Chelsea part ways with manager Roberto Di Matteo and have appointed Stan Collymore

Chelsea have today announced that Champions League winning coach Roberto Di Matteo will be leaving the club. Di Matteo was seen as a fan favourite for his time as player and then his 6-month tenure as interim-manager. He picked up wins of the FA Cup and Champions League last May, with victories over Liverpool and FC Bayern München respectively.
We can also announce that ex-Liverpool and England frontman Stan Collymore will take the reigns at the west London club. The former pundit-turned-player had a great career, and was recognised as one of England's hottest talents throughout the 1990's. It will seem a controversial move for Chelsea fans, with an ex-player from one of their biggest rivals taking over, and they will surely be reluctant to help the man settle in at Stamford Bridge.
The Facts
This all comes on the back of speculation that Real Madrid boss José Mourinho would be returning to the club that he is most fond of. The Portuguese self-labelled 'Special One' has been dropping hints all summer that he would love a move back to the capital, but it has not happened.
The key now for Collymore will be to get the fans on his side, with their first friendlies against Kilmarnock and Dundee coming up. We will bring you more as we get it.
