The Wombles Back on Track

AFC Wimbledon reach League 2

The Wombles are now one step closer to being back on level terms with rivals Milton Keynes Dons (MK Dons). They have done amazingly well to make it back to this level after starting in the Combined Countys league after being started as a club in 2002. The former big time club Wimbledon turned to become Milton Keynes Dons. Fans will probably be hoping to become the superior Wimbledon team.

Wimbledon hire Walker
The Wombles hire former Wimbledon star Samuel Walker takes over from former succesor Neal Ardley who has retired from football to spend more time with his wife. Being a former star fans will miss Ardley but will still hope for better things from Walker.

Nice start, but can I just point out, when AFC won promotion to League 2, Terry Brown was the manager, not Ardley, and the preferred nickname is the Dons. Nice start anyway, will be following with interest

There was actually a campaign earlier this year by AFC fans, backed up by the local council, to get Milton Keynes to drop the Dons from their name, because they are not Wimbledon FC anymore, and the Dons nickname should belong to teams in WimbleDON (and Aberdeen). Luckily for you, I've made an AFC Wimbledon banner:
