West Ham United club announcement

We are very sad today to say that manager Sam Allardyce has left the club, after the club reached an agreement to let him go. This was after the Chinese Super League club Shanghai Shenhua contacted us.

We are very sad to see Mr Allardyce leave the club, after he guided us to a fantastic promotion from the Championship last season. We wish him all the best for his future in China and any future endeavours.

The club will appoint Sir Dave Brailsford as manager.
Good luck Joe =)

Former GB Cycling chief takes over at West Ham United

In a major turnaround, Sir Dave Brailsford CBE has joined Premier League club West Ham United on a one-year deal. The former head of Team GB's Olympic cycling team has reportedly told media that he is delighted to take over at the club.

The club will hold an official press conference with him and the co-chairmen David Gold and David Sullivan, and vice-chairman Karen Brady.

The news comes after Sam Allardyce left the Hammers to join mega-rich Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua.

We will bring more news as we get it.
That was unexpected.
Well, I never guessed that. Will follow this.

Today we bring you West Ham United's new manager, Dave Brailsford's first press conference.

James Lawrence (BBC London)
Sam James (The Guardian)

You sit here today as the brand new manager of West Ham United, how pleased are you to have been given this job?
I am delighted that the board have entrusted me with the role of manager at this club. I am very pleased that I have the chance to take over here.

How would you say you try to make your team play? What style will the West Ham and Premier League fans be expecting to see?
I like to play with a very strong attacking style, with a very strong base at the back. I will be hoping to play a 4-2-3-1 in the style of Bayern Munich or like Chelsea have been playing recently.

What competition would you say you will be focusing in? Are you looking for a cup run to Europe or a respectable league position after being promoted?
I would ove to have a cup run, but the league is my priority at the moment. It's great if we can have a run going alongside ourselves in the league, but I would like to secure ourselves in the Premier League.

Do you know roughly who is in your plans for first-team football this season?
Yes, I have a rough idea of who will use this upcoming season. That is all will say for now. Thank you.
Should be interesting! Although I think you should have used the editor and made people like Chris Hoy and Vicky Pendleton as fitness coaches, and then hire them
Great start to it Joe! I've always wanted a West Ham United career and here you please my demands! Again!
