Overview
The aim of this tactic is to overload the right-hand side of the pitch, focusing their attacks down the right to force the opposition to move more players to their left side or risk being outnumbered. If the opposition commits more players to cover the right side the team is able to switch the ball quickly to the left flank with both the IW and Mez looking to attack the space available. The team looks to play out from the back, the VOL is able to receive the ball from the CB's and advance it up the field through dynamic running and dribbles or through quick and incisive passes. The raumdeuter is able to drift into space giving the opponents defenders a decision to make either cover and mark him, which then opens space for IW on the right to attack, or leave raumdeuter free to cause maximum damage by exploiting the half-spaces.
The lines are staggered across the pitch allowing natural spaces to be exploited, thus opening passing lanes which can be used to great effect. Having staggered lines also have the added benefit of aiding in the defensive phase as your players are able to quickly press and close the spaces and passing lanes of opposition. The team uses a split block to press from the front limiting the time on the ball of the opponent's defenders, the players behind will then look to cut the passing lanes and mark the midfielders to force the ball long before looking to rebuild another attack.
This tactic is best suited to champions league level teams, however, if you have suitable players this could work for you.
