I'll show you the setup I have for my Dortmund save, Although dortmund is an insane club for the german league predicted most of the time to finish 2nd, I believe this tactic can work for most teams, even if someone of the roles don't completely fit the players you have at your disposal.
Striker is a CF it works for me as I typically buy tall or medium-tall strikers who are quite all-rounded but in this role you can use Advanced forward and Poacher if needed.
2 central attackers: Depending on your strengths within your team, I'd recommend switching based on your full backs, for me on the dortmund save I have brandt on the left as an Advanced playermaker and he seems to roam and dribble better for me, so when the full back or CM roams when out of possession to get the ball back he typically is waiting or running around that area and can effectively get the ball, my other central attack is on Shadow striker, it's best to use when you have a player with good goal potential attributes although, brandt scores for me well enough as an advanced player maker, so I don't see any reason why you can't overload the attack more with 2 AP's.
CMs: One on AP, the other two on CM support, Typically I'd have one on the attack typically on the side where I have my Shadow Striker, to add more attacking pressure and the other CM on defence, But if the roles don't fit well for that, I'd recommend having both on support and they typically are good at holding the midfield and stretching wide if necessary for interceptions, AP was a decision i made after testing the central position on Deeplyingplaymaker, it just doesn't work for my teams, setting it to RPM or AP and maybe BWM is an option depending on how you decide to set your middle 3 up with what players you have or the budget at your disposal.
Back 4: This is quite standard in most tactics i've seen with some roles on attack and some on defence, I prefer to have 2 BPD's over one because typically it creates more space and exploits mistakes more than not, in some cases if you change your tactic to focus on side of the pitch, it could be necessary to have one defender back as you want to focus on that side being exploited but in most cases, 2 works the best. the Fullbacks change often for me, it really depends on who you have at your disposal, I really like dimarco on the left, he is such a well rounded fullback for me and he scores for me sometimes, if your fullbacks don't have good pace, accelleration and okay shooting, keep them on support or defend with shooting less on, I found having them on wingbacks and shoot less typically doesn't do much and causes them to try to shoot more often than usual.
SK- Support, I really like this and have never changed it in any save really, if you prefer to use GoalKeeper role, use Support also, defend just feels useless.
