Some years back, a 25-year old football fan applied for the vacant manager position at Middlesbrough. His work experience showed his excellence at Football Manager and it left all the football fans laughing at his confidence.
However following his footsteps, a lot of Football Manager players tried to become real-life manager. Interestingly for one man, his dream came true and he has finally got a chance to manage Azerbaijan’s FC Baku
Vugar Huseynzade, a 21-year student who belongs to Sweden, will be managing Azerbaijan’s top football club and has reportedly beaten big names such as the French legend Jean-Pierre Papin for this post; though he has only experienced to manage teams on a football game.
Compellingly, his Football Manager achievements and some work experience with a sports agency in USA have got him the job.
“I’ve always wanted to work in football and have played Football Manager since 2002,” Huseynzade told Scandinavian newspaper Aftonbladet.
Azerbaijan-born Huseynzade, at first, became the reserve team manager but after the first team’s manager Kamran Ismayilov left after managing the side for more than two years, Huseynzade was called upto manage the A-team.
Our sources believe that Huseynzade’s encounter with FC Baku’s vice-president had helped him to get the job as an assistant at the club last February. As soon as Ismayilov left, Huseynzade got the charge of the A-team who are the current Azerbaijani champions.
First of all this is a huge achievement.. One that I personally did not see as even possible in this modern age, where one can use a game simulation experience as actual experience for that job. Although little comes up in regards to this specifically the lines are blurred with such services as second life: http://secondlife.com/whatis/ In which an online experience could give you an edge in the real world in a murky sense.
This is unlikely to ever happen in the future due to football manager being more widely accessible and the dev’s finding it harder to make the game difficult within the parameters it has, although that’s what I thought about this before it happened..well.. Here’s to the future!
