FM24 UEFA Classic Era Format

Here is one of the mods I was most excited to release. The aim of this database is to bring European competitions back to their classic knockout era, while also including several countries from the former communist bloc.

These nations must be downloaded separately in order for the database to work properly. This is required for compatibility with the mod.

Liechtenstein now has its own domestic league, meaning clubs like FC Vaduz can finally qualify for and play in the Champions League through their national competition.

Below I will explain the structure of the European competitions, as well as a small issue where I would appreciate help from anyone experienced with the Football Manager editor.

UEFA Competition System (40 Teams)

All European competitions follow the same structure.

Competition calendar:

August – May for all competitions

July – April for the Intertoto Cup

Each competition includes 40 teams.

Composition:

39 teams qualifying from European associations

1 place reserved for the defending champion

All rounds are played over two legs (home and away), including the final, similar to the Copa Libertadores format before 2018.

This is where I encountered the main issue while creating the mod.

I have not been able to successfully implement the UEFA Super Cup, as it consistently produces errors in the editor.

However, this is the format I intended to create. If anyone familiar with the advanced editor could help, I would really appreciate it.

The competition would be played in January, when no other European matches are scheduled.

It would feature the champions of all six European club competitions.

UEFA Super Cup Champion


The qualification rules for the Cup Winners’ Cup are not completely accurate.

The domestic cup winner qualifies, as in real life. However, I was not able to make the cup runner-up qualify in case the winner is already qualified for another European competition.

In that situation, the sixth-placed team in the league qualifies instead, which I know is not ideal but was the only workaround I could implement.
