I’ve been so amazed by how “crazy” (fluid and intricate) PSG plays that I had to boot up FM to recreate them for my own satisfaction. My goal is to make PSG in-game feel as close as possible to the real thing.
Based on PSG’s pass map from the final:
- The False 9 relentlessly presses the opposition’s defense and actively drops deep to support both wingers. In real life, Dembele often drifts all the way out to the right to combine with Doué, but in FM this can vary from match to match.
- The three central midfielders (CMs) are constantly rotating positions. I use a Roaming Playmaker, a CM (Get Further Forward), and a Ball Winning Midfielder (BWM). I avoid Mezzala and Box-to-Box roles because those play too wide, ruin the pass map, and don’t match how PSG actually play.
- LB Mendes sticks close to support Khvicha, while RB Hakimi is always high and ready to attack almost like a forward.
- The two center backs (CBs) only defend and link play—they don’t carry the ball forward.
⚠️ However, there’s one thing I can’t fully replicate. The RPM role in FM only makes Vitinha roam vertically, but the game doesn’t let the RPM drift out wide to the flanks. In reality, Vitinha plays like a "hybrid between a Roaming Playmaker and a Carrilero"—incredibly versatile!
