This isn’t a plug-and-play meta exploit.
It’s the V2 of a structural, intelligent positional play system built specifically for FM26’s new match engine.

Find the v1 here: https://www.fmscout.com/a-luis-enrique-psg-fm26-tactic.html

The goal was simple: create a tactic that plays beautiful football, sustains pressure, adapts to any opponent, and requires zero in-match tweaking.

Intro

FM26 changes everything:
  • smarter wide stepping
  • deadlier 1v1s on both wings
  • more realistic pressing traps
  • improved third-man runs
  • fullbacks that genuinely matter in construction

The tactic embraces all of this naturally. I never change instructions during matches.

I played 2 seasons. 1 holidayed (using current tactic + starting XI preference as much as possible) + 1 season managed (turnover, slight in-games adjustments). Both brought incredible results.

1. Managed

WON EVERYTHING, quite easily tbh. Except City in quarter-finals.

2. Holidayed

WON 3/4 (got kicked out in semi-finals against Real Madrid although cumulated 5.12 xG to 2.20)

Tactical Identity

This is modern positional play with a real structural backbone:

1. Constant triangles

The entire shape is built around clean triangles that make the match engine extremely comfortable:

  • Mendes – Vitinha – Kvaratskhelia
  • Hakimi – Neves – Doué/Dembélé
  • Marquinhos – Neves – Fabian Ruiz

There is always a 3rd-man available.
No forced patterns, no gimmicks, just positional logic.

2. Perfect side switches

FM26 finally rewards structured, delayed renversements.
Your fullbacks act as playmaking hubs, fixing pressure before releasing switches at the ideal moment.

You’ll see:

  • clean diagonals
  • opposite-wing isolations
  • cutbacks after side overloads

This happens naturally — no micromanagement.

3. Vertical construction with a dropping 9

Dembélé plays the key role: a vertical, mobile 9 who drops between lines.

This gives Neves and Fabian Ruiz:
  • a short inside link
  • a vertical runner
  • a wide option

You constantly create 2v1s and 3v2s inside.
It’s clean, repeatable, and unpredictable for the AI.

4. Intelligent press with cover

  • first defender jumps
  • covering shadow behind
  • fullbacks protected by the midfield triangle
  • rest-defence always connected

You win the ball high without exposing your ribs.

5. Threat from everywhere

You don’t rely on one scorer.

Opposing teams cannot “pick a side” to defend.

6. Zero in-match tweaking

I don’t touch:
  • tempo (except for securing a result with my 2nd unit-team
  • width
  • pressing
  • passing

The shape self-adapts:
  • vs low blocks → wide + patient
  • vs mid blocks → triangles kill them
  • vs high press → vertical 9 and wingers explode them

Season Results

209 goals scored in all competitions
52 matches played
50 wins → Win Rate: 96,1%

Ligue 1:

  • 118 goals scored
  • 25 conceded
  • 13 clean sheets
  • 1st in possession (63%)
  • 1st in dribbles per match (23+)
  • 1st in shots on target

Top clubs:

Wins vs:
  • Barcelona
  • Athletico
  • Bayern
  • Spurs
  • Chelsea
  • City
  • Arsenal

High control, clean construction, no chaotic transitions.

Weak Points (Honest Review)

1. Lucas Chevalier

He concedes:
  • 0.05 xG long shots → goals
  • missed crosses
  • closed-angles shots

You’ll shake your head. A lot. Feels like FM26's goalkeeping behaviour is broken.

2. Fullback 1v1 concessions

Classic FM26 issue: unknown winger dribbles your fullback and scores a top-corner banger from a ridiculous angle.

3. Slightly lower possession vs top teams

You dominate xG but not always the ball.
City / Spurs / Arsenal can bring you down to 48–52%.

Working on a V3 “high-control” variant.

4. Vitinha’s rating (7.08)

Ignore it.
He is the brain of the tactic:
  • resets tempo
  • absorbs pressure
  • connects triangles
  • guards the zone 14

Feels like match engine underrates deep playmakers.

5. Injuries forced squad rotation

Doué and Dembélé both got 2-month injuries.
I signed Rodrigo Mora as backup.
The system stayed incredibly stable — sign of a robust shape.

Opposition Instructions

https://www.fmscout.com/datas/users/screenshot_2025-11-18_at_20.36.17_358045.png
Simple & effective:
  • tight-mark creative midfielders
  • press fullbacks/wingbacks
  • show wingers onto weaker foot
  • tackle ball carriers harder when appropriate
  • always press the goalkeeper

That’s all. The structure solves everything else.

Final Thoughts

This tactic is:
  • intelligent
  • fluid
  • realistic
  • adaptative
  • and requires no in-match tweaks

It delivers beautiful football like real-life PSG does (did?).
Would love to hear your feedbacks, suggestions and anything that can help improve it into a V3!

Not a moan but you're PSG who are massively OP in the French league... Like to see this used with a Lower league Team or an underdog!

I just bought Chevalier, is he that bad? He got the best scout report in GK. Who are some of the best GK in FM?
