For several years in FM24, I tried to recreate this blueprint. While close, it only truly functioned when exploiting the near-post corner routine, which never felt authentic. With the arrival of the FM26 match engine, however, everything finally clicked. This tactic is not just viable — it thrives, allowing Conte’s title-winning philosophy to flourish naturally.
As the screenshots show, this setup leads the league for goals conceded and ranks second for goals scored. That’s achieved with Chelsea — a side that, under AI management, typically finishes around 6th or 7th — highlighting just how effective and well-balanced the system is.
In terms of variations, I largely stick with a Balanced mentality. Against elite opposition, or in tough away fixtures, I’ll drop to Cautious and slightly lower the defensive line. There are no opposition instructions, and training focuses on match practice and recovery, supported by technical work — primarily chance creation and chance conversion.
If you’re looking for a modern FM26 tactic that captures the spirit, structure, and swagger of Conte’s legendary Chelsea, this is it.
p.s. this is not a possession focused tactic!
