Hey everyone, and welcome. I’m Clemens from Vienna, Austria.

The idea behind FM Assistant is simple:
You stay in Football Manager. The assistant watches, remembers, and helps.

Instead of asking generic FM questions and getting generic answers, FM Assistant is designed to work with your own save. It can scan player profiles, tactics screens, team instructions, and other useful FM screens, then use that information when you ask for advice.

What FM Assistant does

FM Assistant is a desktop overlay app that can stay on top of Football Manager and shrink into a small floating bubble when you do not need the full window.

Current features include:

• Player scanning
Scan player profiles so the assistant can remember players from your save.

• Tactic scanning
Scan your tactic overview, in-possession instructions, and out-of-possession instructions.

• Save profiles
Keep separate scanned data for different saves.

• Ask section
Ask questions based on your scanned players and tactics.

• FM24 / FM26 mode
Switch between FM versions so the assistant uses the right tactical terminology.

• FM26 role support
FM26 mode includes a curated role list based on the new in-possession and out-of-possession role system.

• Floating bubble mode
Minimize the app into a small always-on-top bubble while playing.

• Multiple AI provider support
Use Groq, Gemini, or OpenAI depending on your preference and available free tier.

Why I’m building it

I am a long time FM player, who still has a lot to learn about the game. I wanted to create an App that helps me do so. FM26 in particular changes tactics in a major way with separate in-possession and out-of-possession structures. That makes tactical decisions more interesting, but also harder to analyze quickly.

FM Assistant is meant to become a practical second pair of eyes.

Not a cheat tool.
Not an auto-manager.
Not something that plays the game for you.

The goal is to help you understand your squad, spot tactical problems, compare options, and make better decisions while still keeping the game in your hands.

The app is still in beta, so feedback is extremely valuable. If something breaks, feels awkward, gives bad advice, or needs a better workflow, I want to know.

Current status

FM Assistant is currently in v0.2.1 BETA.

That means the foundation is there, but the app is still evolving quickly. Some things will change, improve, or be rebuilt based on testing.

The current focus is:

• making scanning more reliable
  
• improving FM26 tactical accuracy
  
• making the UI cleaner and more compact
  
• reducing unnecessary AI API usage
  
• improving free-user workflows with provider combinations like Groq for scans and Gemini for deeper questions
