Welcome to my FM 2014 story.
This story will follow the ups and downs of Leyton Orient F.C. in the third tier of the English football league system.
I have absolutely no connection to the club. I cannot name a single player on the team and I have never seen them play a single minute of football live or on TV.
But what I have done is listened to two fantastic podcasts with the teams Chairman Barry Hearn on the Grantland Network with the “Men in Blazers”. If you don't follow the “Men In Blazers” podcast already and if you haven't listened to Barry Hearn interviews, do yourself a favor and do that before you start on the story.
Men in Blazers Barry Hearn Podcast 1
Men in Blazers Barry Hearn Podcast 2
I will cook up an outrage backstory to how I end up as the Leyton Orient manager instead of Russell Slade and from there I will document what will hopefully be a triumphant journey to the top of the English league system.
And while doing so the twist of the story will be a quest to help Jürgen Klinsmann develop new players to the Von Trapps by bringing in mainly young American talents to play for the O's and take over the title as “America's Team”.
