Hopefully you'll get that UCL, you've broken a series of records to get there
March Review
Portsmouth 2-1 Swansea City
39’ Jed Wallace
45’ Luciano Vietto
66’ Alejandro Pozuelo

In a match which we were dominated in by the opposition, we somehow came out with a 2-1 win against Swansea, at Fratton Park. Despite going two goals up, Swansea were the better team throughout the entire game and created a lot of opportunities. However, Sam Johnstone was in good form for me and thankfully we were good on the counter attack and managed to sneak two goals in through Jed Wallace and Luciano Vietto. Swansea pulled a goal back and piled on the pressure but we held on to the lead and the three points.
Portsmouth 2-2 Newcastle United
1’ Luciano Vietto
56’ Dan Butler
63’ Ivan Rakitic
87’ Andreas Cornelius
Luis Ramon Leyva
A great comeback denied us three points as we drew 2-2 against Newcastle United, at Fratton Park. We were two goals up by the 63rd minute and were cruising in the game controlling possession and having all the chances. Fabio Coentrao had been sent off in the 61st minute so the Toon were down to 10 men however they still fought back to earn a point. We didn’t show consistency during the latter stages of the game allowing Newcastle to get back into the match which was very disappointing. It was points dropped for us especially since we were at home.
Derby County 1-3 Portsmouth
1’, 68’ Jed Wallace
29’ Jordan Bowery
58’ Nordin Amrabat

This was a comfortable victory and an assured performance as we defeated Derby County 3-1, at Pride Park. We were the better side throughout and played good football, were solid defensively except when we conceded a fluke Derby goal, were clinical in attack and overall we were deserved of the win.
Portsmouth 2-0 Norwich
31’, 80’ Luciano Vietto
Luciano Vietto
This was another game in which we were comfortable throughout as we beat Norwich 2-0, at Fratton Park. A Luciano Vietto brace proved the difference however we could have scored many more goals if not for an inspired John Ruddy. Either way bottom of the league Norwich, who have won only three games this season, caused no troubles for us at all as we picked up an easy win.
League Table
Managers Thoughts
This was a pretty good month for us as we were unbeaten however we did not face the toughest of opposition. The main positive of the month is that we are now level on points with league leaders Arsenal and are only behind The Gunners on goal difference
Player of the Month
Luciano Vietto
Young Argentinian wonderkid Luciano Vietto wins this month’s PoTM award after some impressive performances for the club during March which saw him score 4 goals, grab a couple of assists and win two MoTM awards. After signing in January, Vietto picked up a slight injury which saw him miss a couple of games however he has settled in to his new team very well and is a class player.
Great results as usual, I think the title will come down to the wire!
Sorry I haven't commented in a while. A few things though. I think you will win the league keep it up!! Secondly on your update about asking the girl her number, couldn't you have just gotten it from the team directory haha.
Jack: Thanks
Bayern: Thanks, I could have but that would just be weird
West Bromwich Albion 1-0 Portsmouth
20’ Youssouf Mulumbu

This was a hugely disappointing match as we lost 1-0 to West Bromwich Albion, at The Hawthornes. We were outplayed by a team that is struggling near the bottom of the table and could barely muster a couple of shots let alone a goal or a good opportunity. All credit to WBA as they were much better than us, but I am very annoyed with my team for putting in such a poor display.
Portsmouth 0-2 Birmingham City
11’ Chris Wood
83’ Nathan Delfouneso

This was another abysmal performance from us as we were beaten 2-0 by Birmingham City, at Fratton Park. All respect goes to Birmingham as despite not being a very good team they still managed to beat us at our home and condemned us to back to back losses for the first time this season. We played terrible and deserved to lose the game just because of how poor we played. This result was very frustrating and could cost us in the league.
Southampton 0-1 Portsmouth

This was a very important game for us as it was the derby match and it was important that we ended our run of back to back losses and we did just that beating Southampton 1-0, at St. Mary’s. This was a very scrappy and feisty encounter with neither side playing good football nor creating good chances. My players showed great passion and fight though and in the end deserved to win the game.
Portsmouth 0-2 Manchester City
62’ Roberto Pereyra
90’ Jack Wilshere

This was another shocking performance as we were defeated 2-0 by Manchester City, at Fratton Park. I always knew that this game would be extremely difficult and considering our recent form, to lose by only two goals both of which came in the second half is not too bad. However, it was our overall performance which was so bad as we did not even have a single shot on target in the game and we were the home side.
Portsmouth 2-1 Fulham
29’, 41’ Gary Madine
85’ Kostas Mitroglu
Gary Madine
We managed to ride our luck and grab a vital victory in this game as we won 2-1 against Fulham, at Fratton Park. A Gary Madine brace helped us to the three points however we could have easily lost the game if not for some poor finishing on the behalf of the Fulham attackers. Fulham pulled a goal back in the 85th minute but some excellent defending made sure we grinded out the result.
Arsenal 2-1 Portsmouth
74’ Oliver Giroud
78’ Jordan Bowery
90’ Ashley Walker
Oliver Giroud
In our final game of the season we slipped to a 2-1 defeat to Arsenal, at the Emirates. We were very unfortunate in this game and could have, should have got at least a point from the match. Arsenal went down to 10 men in the 71st minute however we still could not win the game despite the advantage mainly down to some fantastic defending and goalkeeping by the hosts. Just when it looked like it was heading for a draw, Ashley Walker scored a scrappy goal with the last kick of the season to give Arsenal the three points. I am not concerned about the loss though as Arsenal lifted the title, deservedly.
Final League Table
Managers Thoughts
So there you have it, our first season back in the Barclays Premier League has concluded and what a season it was. We finished in second place which is a fantastic achievement, only 6 points behind league winners Arsenal. Next season UCL football will be coming our way for the first time in the club’s history which is brilliant. As I have said it’s been a great season and I can’t wait for the next one.
Player of the Month
Jack Baldwin
Jack Baldwin wins the final PoTM award of the season with the English central defender having put in a series of impressive displays over the closing stages of the season. Despite the team falling to 4 league defeats over April and May, if not for Baldwin those losses could have been much heavier.
