Eastleigh captain Glen Southam has rallied the fans and players of the club to get behind new manager Matt Wells.

The skipper who won the clubs Player Of The Season award in the 2012/13 season, his first for the club, has told players and fans that the only way they can become successful is if they support Matt Wells.

Wells was appointed manager earlier this week and Southam has been overjoyed to be working under a young coach.

"We have only really had around three training sessions with him and he seems to know what he his talking about. I have really enjoyed the training and he has promised me I will be a key player in this seasons push for promotion".

"I feel that I want to play under him more and more and most of the other players feel the same. He has told all of the older players that he needs them a lot to help with the younger players coming into the club but also he said more experienced players will be coming to Eastleigh".

Glen is a highly rated midfielder who has played for many clubs in many divisions and he has even represented England C 12 times.

He also added that he has enjoyed his first year at Eastleigh and he feels that he could see out his career at the club.

"I love it here and to the captain is a true honour. I want to see out my playing days at this club and I know that I want to be able to play for another two years at least. I may even consider coaching when I retire to give something back to this great club".

Eastleigh begin their pre-season preparations with a game against Salisbury this weekend as the begin to build up for their season opener against Sutton.
