November: Potential League Contenders?
I had been left very disappointed with a couple of the teams performances last month, which appears to be the theme for this month too. It is difficult to decide if my expectations are too high or whether the team are just making the expected the progress and I should be content with where we are right now as a club, especially in the league. The month was on the whole a very good one, with us showing other teams and pundits that we should be a team to be reckoned with and we will do all it takes to do well in this league. We are heading into every game with the aim to outscore the opponents and control possession; this is something that really is working for us at the moment and part of that will come down to the influence of Andriy Shevchenko and David Beckham who are an integral part of my backroom staff. Gozie Ugwu is currently the leading scorer in the league and breaking Notts County records left right and centre and he really does have a bright future ahead of him.
Ensuring that our experienced players put in a shift too when they are called upon has been very important. Damien Duff has had to step in at left back as this is an area that we are weak in and will be looking to strengthen in the January transfer window. Duff brings a lot of experience to the side and knows how to control the tempo of the play which is important when it comes to seeing out the end of a game when the lead we have is a slender one. David Bentley is not getting much game time, and disappointingly he is not putting in good performances when he is given the chances. He is a player that frustrated me in real life with him not ever living up to expectations that were set, mainly by him. He is now unfortunately seen as a faded footballer, and I can see why in his performances.

It is great for the club to be making progress in the domestic cup competitions but they are still not the priority but instead are being used as opportunities to give some of our backup player’s game-time, including Fabian Spiess who has been moaning about not getting much game time. Unfortunately for him, despite him being a player with great potential and a potential future German number 1 goalkeeper, he is not getting ahead of Jak Alnwick who I am desperate to see break into the England side. Unfortunately we will have to gain promotion into the Championship for him to even be considered.
The festive period will be another busy and challenging month but it is one that I expect us to put 100% into and come away with a full house of wins.
