Gallagher heads to County!
As you can gather I decided to take on the job of Stockport County manager with the club currently playing their trade in the Skrill North Division. I had been hoping for a bigger club to come in for me, maybe one from the actual football league, but it didn’t happen for me so I have had to settle for County instead. In my honest opinion, and no offence meant to any County fans, but the club is diabolical! The quality of players is absolutely shocking, the facilities are worse and it is clear why the club are in the Skrill North and not performing well in the division. For an example of the standard of player, take my player of the month Brandon Windsor for example. The lad in my first few matches in charge has played his socks off and managed to get himself a couple of goals. But look at this attributes! They are appalling! Yes he is only 19 but if he is seen as one of my main strikers then we as a club don’t stand a chance of progressing in this league.
What is even more of a joke is that the board of directors, just like Grimsby’s did, expect me to achieve promotion. I couldn’t quite believe it when I read it and unfortunately for them, and probably for me come end of the season, that aim is a little too high for this season at least.
The month got off to a good start with a good away win against Corby and I have to admit I did think things looked promising. Then we came up against Barrow and they quickly showed us that we aren’t a match for any of the teams near the top of the league. We are not a match for the teams we are suppose to be beating to promotion this season. The rest of the month went reasonably ok with us at least getting points in the league and progressing to the second round of the FA Trophy. This update will have come across as very negative and I apologise for that but you have to admit, the future does look a tad bleak.
