Head to a bigger club! While you've done really well for Nott's County (and they've been good to you, too), it's time for a change of scenery. There are definitely bigger clubs in the Premier League to manage, or perhaps try out a foreign league if it suits your fancy! :)
I really do think a move abroad would be quite cool and exciting. Maybe to a smaller league than usual?
Neal:I would love to head to a bigger club but I don't think I have the credentials yet to be offered one. I may have won two league titles but in this particular save I have limited experience of Premier League football. It is this that I think will stop any offers coming from reputable clubs.

AaronHJFT96:A move abroad may be interesting but I don't tend to like the rules that are enforced on you, such as only so many foreign players in La Liga.

Time for Change

If you look over my previous stories you will notice a common theme running from start to finish; well at least with the majority of them. That theme is, chose a club, stick with them for three to four seasons maximum, win and then change story as it gets tedious winning pretty much everything. This may come across as me sounding big headed, but the evidence is there. The stories became stale and uninteresting to write, never mind read. It was because of this that I decided to take on this unemployment challenge; a challenge that was never going to be about getting that one club to the top of European football but instead trying to get myself there by whatever means. If it meant quitting a club and sitting with the save with me on holiday for season after season until an attractive offer came in from a reputable club, then so be it. However, when Notts County came along it changed everything...

I started by steering the club from impending relegation to League Two. With a few additions to the non-existent backroom staff and a few additions in playing personnel I managed to transfer the club into a league winning club. We won the League One title the following season before promptly winning the Championship league title and finding ourselves in the Premier League. Despite the doubters, mainly in-game, we managed to finish 8th in our first season in the big league.

The save was going well but I had started to become tired of writing updates; despite getting a lot of views (thanks for that) it wasn’t enjoyable for me as the writer. This meant that I was going to have to make the biggest change in my FM career. It was going to have to be goodbye to the play it safe, stick with one club and see what happens and hello to the new approach. Don’t be afraid to take a gamble and make a change, one that will hopefully see the story revitalised and more interesting to both read and write. And this is what I have done. At the time of writing of this update I have already resigned from Notts County, leading to a mass exodus of my backroom staff, left them with quality players and the opportunity to finish off the season well. I have also found a new club; the identify of that club will have to wait...
You've done an excellent job at Notts County, you'll be a success wherever you go.

Why thank you. I do hope to be a success at another club but only time will tell.
I wonder where you've gone! :D

A New Home..

That is right ladies and gentlemen, the next club that I have been trusted to take charge of for the foreseeable future is Newcastle United. Since the beginning of the save, the club have had in a number of managers who have not ended the long wait for silverware. Harry Redknapp, Brian McDermott and most recently Tony Pullis have been and gone without managing to win over the players, the fans and the board of directors. Fans of Newcastle United have had to put up with many miserable seasons with them not achieving high league positions that they were accustom to in earlier days of the Premier League, especially in the 96/97 season. I felt that it was time for me to step in and hopefully guide the club to happier and more successful times.

Having joined the club, I found that the players morale was rock bottom, especially players like Hatem Ben Arfa and Thomas Carroll who simply weren’t being given game time. This is despite them being at a club where they are ultimately the better players at the club. It seemed that Pullis did not have the players playing in their preferred positions and leaving out key players which had resulted them being sat in 13th place, a few places below Notts County, the club which I have just left. The club was comfortably above the relegation zone but it looked like it was going to be another season with them finishing in mid-table.

Soon as I joined I made it clear that anyone I felt to be dead-wood that they would be shown the door as I wanted the club to make progress and this couldn’t be done with the current setup in place. Of course this could end up backfiring on me; too many changes in such a short space of time can be catastrophic, sorry Mr Moyes. However, having already identified targets in terms of new playing personnel and backroom staff I felt that the changes wouldn’t cause much drama.

Authors Note: this story is going to take a big of a change in approach. The majority of the posts will be done in first person as I am most comfortable writing in this way but I will be attempting third person updates with the aim of improving my standard of this type of writing. Another thing to note is that there is still 13 games left of this season; I will be going on “holiday” for the remainder of this season (praying that I will come back to my job still being intact) so I can start again during the summer in preparation for my first season with the club.
Oooh Newcastle! I wish you luck!

Thank you very much. I think I may need it. The club needs quite a bit of revamping but this is a job I love doing!
Newcastle will be tough, and interesting having Carroll back at Tyneside! Best of luck with the holiday and with the summer preps!

There will be no sudden surge of French players into the club, in fact a couple may just be leaving!
