The league is going to be much more difficult and there are a lot of difficult games coming up in the next weeks. I am glad it is going to be our only focus though so we can put 100% in.

It'll be good to get the fitness burden (cup games) out of the way!

Yeah domestic cup competitions really do get in the way and really do drain the player's fitness levels. Time to focus on the league with an update coming very soon!

Cool, will be looking forward to that! Hopefully we'll see you with some more silverware at the end of the season, or maybe something almost as good:P i.e. Promotion.

As a result of our prolonged participation in the FA Trophy, which we won, it meant that we had a number of games in hand over the teams above us in the league. This had the media piping us for a late title challenge only if we managed to grab all of the available points. The month had started off extremely well with us obtaining 9 points out of an available 12 which propelled us to just a few points behind top of the league Barnet.

After the win in the FA Trophy I was very confident that despite playing against play-off rivals Luton and Hereford that we could come away with another six points that would help go towards sealing a play-off spot as a minimum. The two games were just unbelievable and we deserved to lose both of them due to our defence switching off and allowing both the teams to get back into the game. We were two nil up against Luton and cruising to a very comfortable win with us creating lots of chances; we should have had more goals on the score board and because we didn’t we paid big time! Our defenders just switched off and before I know it and had time to react, Luton had got themselves into a 3-2 lead. The confidence of the players was knocked and this was evident in our next performance as the situation was near enough the same. We dominated Hereford from the very start and it just slipped away from us as we invited pressure onto us and Hereford took full advantage. It is going to take a lot of effort to get these players back on form and into a winning mentality.


Already looking at the remaining fixtures I can see this typically coming down to the final game of the season against Braintree to decide who gets the final play-off spot. It is going to be a very tense, tiring but exciting final month of the season. I will head into it confident of getting a result and this time around we will definitely be making sure we make the most of the game we have in hand.

Damn, unlucky! But, still...Promotion is still a possibility, and there will be a lot of pressure, but I think you'll thrive under it:P

Play-offs are not always a bad thing, hopefully you'll get promoted

AaronHJFT96:Promotion is definitely on the cards but the morale of the players as sunk to an all time low. I really am hoping for a good couple of results to give them the boost they need to push on.

Pauker:Play-offs is now the aim and I really do hope we can get there and get promoted.

Back on Football Manager 2013, my unemployed journey did not get off to the best of starts. I had set my past footballing experience to Sunday League Footballer and my first club was HSV in the German Bundesliga. I was set up to fail as the players that were at the club didn’t want to listen to a novice who had had no previous managing experience. It was simply impossible to get them on side. Ultimately, I got sacked and finally found my way to Rotherham United which went much better with me helping them gain promotion in my first season in charge. The arrival of FM14 halted any further progress I am confident I could have made.

This time around I have managed to avoid being sacked but instead have decided to resign from my position as manager of Grimsby Town. I am absolutely gutted that I could not achieve even a play-off spot with this club as I had managed to steer them into a great position just the previous month. We were destined to get a play-off spot, head to Wembley for the second time this season, and get ourselves promoted to Sky Bet League 2. What actually occurred was disastrous. We went on an abysmal losing streak which saw us slide far away from the play-off spots and instead to a mid-table position. I will take sole blame for this dramatic change in fortunes but would also say that the long term injury to our main man, Liam Hearn, did have a big impact on the team. We were simply lost without him and just found it difficult up front. The team’s morale was shattered more and more after each game and our destiny changed from play-off contenders to a mid-table finish. I will come away with my first trophy of my unemployment challenge but I will also walk away with the disappointment of a terrible end to the season.

It is going to be interesting to see which teams, if any, offer me their manager’s position after this poor showing as Grimsby Town boss but I will go into it confident of doing well, just like I did with Rotherham United.

Unlucky james, not a good finish to the season at all! If you stay where you are, im sure you're more than capable of promotion, maybe a full season is what you need!

Unlucky. I'm following this with interest, keep up the good work. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off but NEVER give in!!

Unlucky with the end to the season, think you maybe resigned a bit to early and should have had another season and got Grimsby into League 2. Hope you find a job at a bigger club soon and quick, there is nothing worse than staring at your screen whilst on holiday.

AaronHJFT96: Well unfortunately I have already resigned from my position as manager and actually got myself a new club (the story on here is way behind the actual save).

Louis O:It really was a disappointing end to what had been an ok campaign up to that point. A new club has come knocking...more to follow shortly.

Gazbucus:It is always nice to have a new person commenting on the story. I won't be giving in anytime soon don't you worry.
