Exclusive interview with Mateo Kovačić

Andy Cole: "Hello Mateo, and welcome to MUTV, so how do you feel now you’re a Manchester United player?"

Mateo Kovačić: "I’m very, very happy. It’s a big moment for me. I waited for a long time, I’ve worked hard for this and I’m very happy to join this big club, this great club. I hope to do everything for Manchester United."

Andy Cole: "When you knew Manchester United wanted you, did you always want to come here?"

Mateo Kovačić: "Of course. It’s the biggest club in the world so of course I wanted to join this club. I tried everything to join the club."

Andy Cole: "What’s today been like? It went right for the deadline…"

Mateo Kovačić "It’s been difficult, a very long day. I waited to the end… I know the situation, but this day has been very long."

Andy Cole: "You've only played 13 games for Inter Milan, do you feel you will be pressurized by the amount of games you will be included in this season?"

Mateo Kovačić "I think it will be a challenge, but, they have faith in me, and I have faith in me, so we'll see what comes."

Andy Cole: "What do you hope you can achieve as a Manchester United player?"

Mateo Kovačić: "When I was young it was a dream to play for big club like Manchester United. Now I’m here so I’ll try to give my best to the club. I want to win trophies. That’s the most important thing."

Andy Cole: "Thanks for your time Mateo."

Great signing, really talented creative player which Manchester United desperately need!
Josh7798: Cheers mate, and yeah we definitely do!

September Results

Month Overlook:
A fantastic month for the Reds! Spurs, Juventus, and a solid Southampton team were our key games to win over these four weeks. Points are crucial at this early stage of the season, but how many can we claim?

Monday 2nd September 2013 | St. Mary's Stadium | Att. 32,689 | Premier League

1-2

(4-2-3-1) United XI: De Gea, Rafael, Vidic, Ferdinand, Rodríguez, Carrick, Fellaini, Valencia, Kagawa, Nani, Welbeck Subs Used: Kovačić, Rooney, van Persie

Ferdinand (7'), van Persie (90')
Osvaldo (52')
Rio Ferdinand

Match Review:
The result does not resemble the game at all, possession was dominated by us, and we created more chances than them with our bits of possession. Still, we managed to claim another 3 points that will surely boost us up a few places in the league.

- Josh Sleightholm

Saturday 14th September 2013 | Old Trafford | Att. 73,130 | Premier League

4-0

(4-2-3-1) United XI: De Gea, Jones, Vidic, Ferdinand, Evra Giggs, Fellaini, Young, Rooney, Kagawa, van Persie Subs Used: Welbeck

Ferdinand (4',36'), Valenica (16'), Smalling (66')
None
Antonio Valencia

Match Review:
We made sure Hull City's start to the Premier League was a tough one. We knew the task would be an easy one, but Hull are still a professional side, and have to be fended off properly, and the lads did great putting four past them. I am also very pleased with the corner routines, Rio is on three goals now, and embarrassingly enough he's probably got more than our strikers.

- Josh Sleightholm

Wednesday 18th September 2013 | Old Trafford | Att. 75,285 | Champions League

3-2

(4-2-3-1) United XI: De Gea, Rafael , Vidic, Ferdinand, Evra, Kovačić, Fellaini, Valencia, Rooney, Kagawa, van Persie Subs Used: Jones, Smalling, Carrick

van Persie (8',38'), Kovačić (30')
Tevez (13'), Marchisio (77')
Robin van Persie

Match Review:
A brilliant win against our 'toughest' opponents in the group, going up 3-1 in the first half was completely unexpected, but I can only ask for the same when we come to face them again. A superb display.

- Josh Sleightholm

Saturday 21st September 2013 | Selhurst Park | Att. 23,294 | Premier League

1-3

(4-2-3-1) United XI: De Gea, Jones, Vidic, Smalling, Rodríguez, Carrick, Giggs, Valencia, Rooney, Januzaj, Welbeck Subs Used: Kovačić, Hernandez

Welbeck (6'), Valencia (60'), Rooney(Pen 90+4')
Ince (50')
Adnan Januzaj

Match Review:
Comfortable win straight after the home win against Juventus, Welbeck claimed his first goal of the campaign, and hopefully the young start can grab us a few more. Another youngster in Januzaj showed us why he should be starting every game, he played perfect today.

- Josh Sleightholm

Tuesday 24th September 2013 | Old Trafford | Att. 37,267 | Capital One Cup

4-2

(4-2-3-1) United XI: Lindegaard, Jones, Smalling, Ferdinand, Rodríguez, Cleverley, Fellaini, Valencia, Kovačić, Nani, Hernandez Subs Used: Rooney, van Persie

Hernandez (Pen 1'), Valencia (3'), Smalling (72'), Ferdinand (77')
Ince (33'), Gayle (68')
Tom Ince

Match Review:
We came back again the battle against Palace, but this time in the Capital One Cup, and still managed to put two past them as we did before. Two early goals gave us a huge advantage, and should've immediately put them out of the game, but two goals still crept past our defense, however at the end of the day we proceed to the next round!

- Josh Sleightholm

Saturday 28th September 2013 | Old Trafford | Att. 74,887 | Premier League

3-2

(4-2-3-1) United XI: Dea Gea, Smalling, Jones, Ferdinand, Evra, Fellaini, Kovačić, Valencia, Kagawa, Young, van Persie Subs Used: Carrick, Welbeck

Vidic (34',67'), Fellaini (43')
Defoe (7',27')
Nemanja Vidic

Match Review:
What a comeback. I was speechless, I couldn't see a way back after Defoe's two early goals, just absolutely astonishing by the team.

Great comeback against Spurs and a good win against Juve! Nice match update style
Looking like a solid month mate. Lets hope the next month proves as successful for you. Secretly I am wishing that Forest beat you, but wouldn't want to hurt the story. :) Your CB's seem to be getting quite the number of goals. Nice to see all the team chipping in.
