Ashley Cole set to leave Chelsea

In a deal that his been kept under wraps for some time now, Chelsea full-back is set to leave the London club after an impressive 9 seasons. The left-back with 118 caps for England will join Inter Milan, after Cole was supposedly unhappy at Chelsea. It was said that he was unhappy at what he could possibly succeed in the future, and after only playing once so far this season, he will leave the club. Inter are said to have made 2 bids, the first being negotiated to a higher fee, which was eventually met by the Italian giants. Cole will join for a fee of £875k.
In a statement from Chelsea football club, the club are said to be 'sad that a fantastic player and individual will finally be leaving the club.' In further reading, the blues thank Ashley Cole: 'Chelsea football club would like to sincerely thank Ashley (Cole) for everything that he has contributed to the football club over the past 10 years. He has been an integral part of the football club and the team, and we will certainly be sad to see him go.
'We would also like to wish him the best of luck in his future endeavours Inter Milan, and we hope that one day, Ashley can possibly come back to work, or even play for the club once more.'
Cole's time at Chelsea has never been uneventful, and right from when they signed him, the club were shrouded in controversy. It was reported that Chelsea had illegally contacted Cole before his £5M part exchange deal with Arsenal was agreed. Since then, Cole has also been at the centre of an inappropriate images scandal, where he reportedly cheated on popstar and ex-wife Cheryl Cole.
In more recent years, Cole accidentally shot an intern with an air-rifle while training at the club's Cobham training ground. Although the man was not injured badly, Cole still became a figure of mockery for opposition's fans.
'It is a huge shame that the club were not able to host a testimonial for Ashley, as it would definitely have been a fitting end to his Chelsea career.'
Ashley Cole joined Chelsea in August 2006 and made 243 league appearances, scoring 8 goals for the Treble-winning team. Cole has won 2 Premier League's, 5 FA Cup's, 2 Champions League's, a League Cup and a Europa League trophy.
