Episode 31: Keep On Truckin'
July 17, 2016
Japan Soccer College 1 - 2 Ehime FC
It was the Watanabe show, as Kazuhito Watanabe scored for Japan SC on an indirect free kick, but Ryota Watanabe was the star for Ehime as he notched two first half goals, which were enough for Ehime to pick up the win.
Player of the Match: Shuhei Akasaki (Ehime FC)
Ryota Watanabe Notches Ten
Ehime FC's striker Ryota Watanabe has now achieved 10 goals for the season, and supporters are going nuts over his performances, although he has been kind of streaky, scoring a brace in three games, and disappearing in others.
It's a Fan Day!
The board have chosen Ehime FC's next home match against Tochigi UVA for a fan day. Any paying adult can bring a child along for half price. The purpose of the move is to promote the team and help create new fans. Hopefully it works, as Ehime FC could use more money.
The Transfer Window Opens!
The Japanese transfer window is now open. Ehime isn't in any position to make any purchases, and it faces the problem of needing to cut its wage bill, but risking a downturn if it sells players since it can't sign new ones.

Ehime FC 3 - 0 Tochigi UVA
Nishiguchi gets the start at DM because he's wanted playing time and I can't trust Michitaka Akimoto. He concedes a penalty call, but Wendell saves, the second penalty he's saved for me this season. Definitely earning his keep! Shun Ito scores soon after to make it a 2 goal swing in fortunes, and Ehime scores 2 goals in the second half to blow out Tochigi. Both Nishiguchi and Akimoto struggled with injuries, Akimoto having to be taken off.

Michitaka Akimoto Suffers Hip Injury
Unfortunately, defensive midfielder Michitaka Akimoto's injury is a serious hip injury. He will see a specialist and get back in action in around 3 months.
Fan Day a Success
The board declared the fan day a success, with a bumper crowd of 4,198, and the exciting football that Ehime put on display should ensure a long-term increase in attendance.

SC Sagamihara 1 - 0 Ehime FC
It took two cracks, but Yu Kimura was able to score the goal that gave in-administration Sagamihara a much-needed win over Ehime.
Player of the Match: Koki Kotegawa (SC Sagamihara)
Mizuno Not Happy
Ehime FC manager Makoto Mizuno is not happy, not just because his team couldn't make it to 5 games unbeaten, but also because he felt like Ehime FC played without enough heart against Sagamihara.
Japan Manager to Leave Post; Retire
Japan's manager, Alberto Zaccheroni, 63, has retired from being the manager of the Japanese national team to spend more time with his family. His departure opens up a big opportunity, although I won't be able to capitalize on it due to my lowly stature in the game.

Ehime FC 0 - 2 Blaublitz
Two early goals against us and we couldn't recover; the chances were there, we just couldn't shoot worth a damn.
Player of the Match: Akira Oshima (Blaublitz)
League Table: 23/34 Complete
For a team that was facing relegation when I got there, 8th isn't bad at all, but I know we can do better. I think promotion is seriously out of the picture though, unfortunately.
