Tough month, a lot of difficult games and pretty poor results. At least you got the win over Kansas or it would not be good!

A pretty poor month, let's hope that the players will come back better next month!
July 2013 (PT1)
LA Galaxy Vs Columbus Crew
POTM : Ewerthon (Columbus Crew)
We forgot about last month and scored 8 total goals. We scored 5 goals with a man down. Donovan gave them one goal to be happy about. Ewerthon gets his hattrick, BWP gets a brace and Glauber gets a red card which did not deserve to be one.
Goodbye To The Loyal
The day after the triumph win against LA Galaxy Columbus has traded away Andy Gruenebaum for Colorado Rapids 2014 Superdraft Round 1 pick and Colorado's 2015 Superdraft 2nd Round Pick.
Andy had joined Columbus in 2006. In 2013 he got replaced by Giorgi Makaridze as starting goalkeeper. His final match with Columbus was the 2-1 defeat to San Jose Earthquakes in the U.S Open Cup.
His response to him leaving his career long club was this, " I could understand, where Xavier was coming from, I couldn't get first team soccer and couldn't do much when I was called upon the field, hopefully Colorado will be a improvement in my ability."
We bid you farewell, Andy.
Columbus Crew Vs Portland Timbers
POTM : Giorgi Makaridze (Columbus Crew)
Since Glauber was suspended Wahl had to replace him, Tchani was a bit tired to start. Giorgi did some acrobatic saves for us, our winger Salinas scores the winner, what a suprise I say.
Out Of Town
There was a German friendly coming up and I arranged it to test our skills but something else happened that made me miss it.
My Grandfather died and his funeral was the same day around the same time. He had been sick for a couple of weeks now and I was just got news about it now.. I had to go so I told my assistant to play the game in my place.
Rest In Peace.
Columbus Crew Vs Gladbach
POTM : Amin Younes (Gladbach)
What the hell... why did he change the goalkeeper? Giorgi was full in fitness, and Marshall did return this match, we didn't do really good at all, I am very annoyed about some things about this match, but lets get over that.
Loan Report
Quick Notes
Was It The Right Thing to do to sell Andy G?
Good choice letting him go, there's probably better out there for your team Good update!
I agree with Naveed, he isn't going to be able to keep up high standards your team is setting!
Your right TK69, I should have let him go Right.
I think it was right to let him go and I am hoping it will prove right too keep it up
Been a while since I last posted........all up to date now though. You have done well retaining the top spot when you had that tough month. Good teams can do that. I think losing your longest serving goalie could be a bad choice.......despite his playing time he could have been valuable to those coming to the club. He could train and show loyalty. Good money for Gaven, but in my opinion, a big loss and big gap. Keep up the good work though. Some surprising results.
The next few updates aren't going to be as big as the others because I'm very busy atm. Sorry.
Full July Results
Ewerthon was a key player in those last two games for us to win the match.
In the Trillum Clash vs Toronto FC. Jermaine Taylor scored from a rebound on a corner. Then, Higuain curls a freekick in ronaldinho style, Ewerthon gets the header from Higuain to score then they scored near the end then Ewerthon passes it to Higuain to score the winner in about the 90th minute to win us the match!
Sadly Petersen and Hedges gets injured because of Toronto's crazy fouls. Petersen out for about 2 weeks and Hedges 3-4 days.
We are in a very comfortable position of our conference. 7 points ahead of Kansas gives us a tiny bit space to relax. However we can not get complacent now, anything can happen.
Player Of The Month : Giorgi Makaridze
http://sportall.ambebi.ge/images/new_photo/QARTULI/SOCCER/Legion/Europa/giorgi-makaridze-2012-904324.jpg
This was exactly the reason I signed him. He saves and blocks alot of the opponent's shots. He deserved to beat Andy when he was here, and the defense protects him alot also.
Some good results in there... like the 8-1 obviously.. at least you are top with a cushion, makes life a lot easier.
Ewerthon looks good, and Federico Higauin seems on good form too - are you sure it's not Gonzalo? (sorry) Well done, top of the Eastern Conference
