Manchester City thrashed L.A Galaxy 4-1 in a friendly encounter. Sergio Aguero was player of the match. Manager Sam Slater hailed his team's first performance of pre-season as 'great'. Slater's interview will be on Man City's website and our own shortly.

Hi Sam, what do you think was the deciding factor in today's win?

The sheer number of shots we had increased the likelihood of us scoring. Possession was tight and we just made the most of what chances we created.

Are there any areas in which the team need to improve?

For sure, defensively. We should be attaining clean sheets, with no disrespect to Galaxy. I feel we are neglecting our duties at the back and in the Premier League, we would be punished with a loss.

Southampton Ward off Man City's James bid

Manchester City have failed with a reported £4million offer for Southampton's James-Ward Prowse. City manager Sam Slater is on a quest to bring English players into his team as well as high profile players. The reasoning behind the transfer rejection is that the transfer sum is too low.

Ward-Prowse, 19 currently is a Central Midfielder who has made 30 appearances for Southampton FC.

Bad news on the Chiellini front tonight!

Great signing in Chiellini but I would've got someone younger like Zouma or Doria in which they'd be the cheaper options but still a quality signing

He won't sign because Juventus won't let him go and he has signed a new deal. Now in the running for Laurent Koscielny from Arsenal. I am going to make a bid for Zouma though. Thanks for the suggestion!

I spoke with Micah 'Tank' Richards after the game. He told me that he had no KOMPANY and was bored. So I took him to the canteen and we worked on our tactics for the next game. There's no way that he's leaving this club anytime soon.

MAN CITY WIN HUNTE

Manchester City FC have captured promising 16 year old English winger Connor Hunte on a free transfer. The quick Hunte had previously been at Chelsea before being released. Mirror Football's Manchester correspondent Jim Docherty interviewed the new city signing.

JD: Hi Connor, what made you choose Man City?
CH: It was easy for me to pick City, as I recognise that they are firmly behind a policy of developing young English players and I have admiration for Sam Slater.

JD: Has Mr Slater indicated your role?
CH: Yes, I am to be put in the first team squad as a backup player, which I am grateful to be. I'll also be subject for rotation.

JD: Have you met any players yet?
CH: I have met the captain Vincent, Micah Richards and David Silva. Silva is going to be my mentor to help me develop.

As you can see, we lost only one game to Seongnam, the game we played several youngsters. We have made progress but I am intrigued to see how we perform against Hull in our first game. Pre-Match interviews will be up soon!
