After reading so many great stories on this site, I felt inspired to start my own so here goes.......Wish me Luck

http://i44.tinypic.com/rh1g8m.jpg

'He is ENGLISH, What does he know!'

That's what the newspaper headline read. Good old Marca always know how to create controversy.

My name Sameer Seharai, and I am the new Atletico manager. Many of the fans are not happy with my appointment, I'm young and inexperienced I can't blame them. It's my job to prove to the fans that I am the man to lead this club to success.

I got the job due to my contacts, my dad know's people in high places........(don't ever ask me about this).

As Marca like to point out I am English but I have been living in Spain my whole life. I have watched Atletico my whole life and seen some of the greatest players grace the Vicente Calderon pitch such as Torres, Aguero, Falcao, Forlan etc. I beleive I have the know how and spirit to break Barcelona and Real Madrid's dominance in La Liga.

(I pour myself a drink): This is has been your DREAM Sameer it's time to step up and deliver. TO ATLETICO!!!!!
Good luck mate!

Budget: Atletico gave me 5m to spend, which is decent espically with the crop of players I currently have. Atletico are in a lot of debt which is not a surprise in spain.

My Aims: When it came to choosing season expectations, I chose Champions League qualifaction this team is more then capable of meeting this expection. A push for the title......maybe we will see how we start the season

My Squad:

Goalkeepers

I have a amazing young keeper in Courtois, what I would do to keep this keeper beyond this season but I reckon Chelsea will want to keep hold of him. What's the harm in trying though.....back up keeper Aranzubia is old but still 'ok'. Asenjo is out on loan to Villarreal at the moment.

Right backs

I have Juanfran as my starting RB but looking at him he's brillant attck wise but lacks defensively which is not good. Right back is somewhere where I will look to improve. I also have Alderweireld who can play RB but I see him more as a CB.

Left backs

I have two great players in Luis and Insua. Insua has seemed to be around for a long time but at 24 still young. Luis will start at LB for me, in a similar probably to Juanfran he lacks abit in defence but I thivk he can improve.

Centre backs

I have 4 great CB. Miranda & Godin will be starting for me. In my opinion these 2 are the best La Liga CB PARTNERSHIP. As mentioned before I have an amazing back up in Alderweireld whos is all action and he is part of the up and coming Belguim crop. Lastly I have Gimenez a great young defender with the right coaching could become one of the worlds best CB.

Midfield

This is a the part of the team that really Excites me, there is massive talent in the midfield with the likes Suarez, Guilavogui, Gabi, Tiago, Garcia and Koke. This definitely the strongest part of my team the partnership of Koke and Garcia should create my team alot of cahnces, these two will anchored by Suarez add some stability to preventing the team from going gung ho. Gabi should push Garcia for a starting spot but for now I am happy with the trio of spanish talent in the middle. Guilavogui is a very promising French talent who I like alot.

Right wing

Arda is my main man here due to the amount of midfield talent in the middle, therefore he will have to play on the right-wing but believe his amazing talents will seem him thrive in this postion. Back up here is Adrain great spanish palyer seem more as a Striker though. Right wing is somewhere I would like to improve.

Left wing

I have one of my favorite palyers in the world an experienced man who knows where the net is VILLA! He will operate as a inside forward, and can also provide buck up to my forwards. Back up here is Rodriguez another experienced man who can provide me with width.

Strikers

I have alot of options here with Costa, Leo, Villa and Adrain. Costa will be my No 1 here, he is strong, good pace, can finish and hard worker, a all round stiker. Leo is back up here a youngest will a lot of potential.

Im am going to be playing a 4-2-3-1 formation.

Next to come PRE-SEASON........
2013-12-22 19:05#150652 AAN : Good luck mate!

First Game

Shenua 0 -1 Atletico: Costa 44’

Match Comments:
Costa got the winner just before half time. Not the greatest game to watch. We created loads of chance but just could not put the ball in the back of the net. I am content for now but expect improvement in the future.

Second Game (Friendly Cup Semi)

Doncaster 2-2 Atletico: Juanfran OG 64’, Suarez OG 73’ – Gabi Pen 9’, Suarez 44’ (Atletico won 3-1 on Pens)

Match Comments:
We played really well in the 1st half created chance but more importantly we put the ball into the back of the net, racing into a 2-0 lead thanks to a Gabi (Pen) and Suarez well placed shot. Then my team decided to score a few more goals but at the WRONG END!!!! 2 OG from Juanfran and Suarez. Squared the game up, we had chances to win the game but it went to Pens. Pens were easy 3-1 to us but very disappointed in our 2nd half performance. NEXT the Final against NAPOLI.

Third Game (Friendly Cup Final)

Atletico 2-0 Napoli: Arda 38’, Higuain OG 75’

Match Comments:
Outstanding performance by my team this is what I expect from them. Defensively solid Napoli did get through one on one a few times due to over the top balls but Courtois (who picked up the MOTM) stood up brilliantly to their chances. Arda gave us to lead thanks to great run down the wing finishing the chance with a great finish across Reina. On the 74’ minute we got a corner Higuain tried to clear his lines but just ended up scoring a own goal. 2-0 win very HAPPY!!!

Player of pre-season

Thibaut Courtios

Saved Atletico a few times in the game against Napoli and also won us the penalty shoot out against Doncaster. What to sign this guy so BADLY!!!

Contracts and Transfers

Miranda Signs New Deal!

With Miranda having only 12 Months left on his current contract, manager Sameer Seharai has acted quickly and tied him up to a new 3 year contract, with Maranda now earing £27.5k per week.

Sameer: I see Miranda as a leader of this team and his partnership with Godin is the backbone which will lead us to success and I am very to see him sign a new deal.

Miranda: The manager has shown a lot of faith in me and the fact that one of the first things he wanted to do when he joined the club was to re-new my contract, he has a lot trust in me and I am keen to re-pay him.

In other news:

Atletico were unable to re-new Raul Garcia contract who also had 12 months remaining on it, as the player wanted a huge pay rise which the club is not ready to commit to just yet.

Tiago has been transfer listed unfortunately there has been no intrest in his services as it stands. Tiago also has 12 months left on his contract but Atletico will NOT be entertaining the renewal of his contract.

'Mario: I can't wait to take this step up!'

http://i40.tinypic.com/2nrg902.jpg

Atletico are pleased to announce there first signing of the season Mario from Villarreal. Mario is a young spanish right back who will provide comptetion to Juanfran. Mario is defensively sound and also can provide support to the attack. The deal is worth £1.1m and will see Mario earn £11.5k per week on a 3 year contracnt.

Mario will be wearing the No 25 Shirt.

First Two League Games and Super Cup 1st Leg

First League Game

Sevilla 0-2 Atletico: Arda 29', Godin 49'

Match Comments:

Sevilla away I thought this would be a very diffcuilt game and to be honest with you would of been happy with a draw, but did'nt my boys make it look easy. We were sound at the back not giving Sevilla a sniff and created a lot of chances and should of won the game by bigger goal margin. Arda kicked us off with a curling free kick that had be seen to enjoy. Godin doubled our advantage with header from a corner. Very pleasing start to the season.

MOTM: Gabi

Super Cup 1st Leg

Atletico 0-0 Barcelona: RED CARD Luis 70'

Match Comments:

I really did not know what to expect from this game but I decided I would attack Barca. Barcelona as expected dominated possession but did'nt really create any chances. Atletico had the best chances, when Costa was put through by Koke one on one but Valdes made a great save. Also Arda had a few shots which he sent wide, but the tide turned when Luis got sent off for a second booking in which he fouled Alexs in Barcelona half (I was not happy). Barcelona dominated after the sending off but the game finished 0-0 which is not too bad. Onto the Camp Nou (the 2nd leg will be a more in depth match report)

MOTM: Godin (C)

Second League Game

Atletico 4-1 Rayo: Rodriguez 35', Arda 50', Villa Pen 53, Pen 73' - Fernandez 25'

Match Comments:

I expected a BIG win in this game and my team did not disappoint. For all our early chances Rayo went 0-1 up thanks to a nice one on one finish by Fernandez. 10 min later Rodriguez (playing instaed of Villa with Barca 2nd Leg in mind) latched onto a through ball, rounded the keeper and scored. At the break I told my team to push on and in the 50 min ARDA scored ANOTHER free kcik. Villa then came on for Rodriguez who got injured (is now fine). Raul Garcia made two great runs in the Rayo box got foulded twice and won Atletico two pen's which my main Villa stuck away. Great win and performance by the lads.

MOTM: Raul Garcia

Atletico Madrid Starting 11:

Match Comments

Barcelona started with Fabregas up front which I found starnge as they did have Messi available but its something they have done in the past. I told my team to Counter Barcelona as I expected them to come flying out of the traps, but it was my team that started off the stronger. 5 Mins on the board Koke picks up the ball in the midfield slide a through right through the heart of Barca defence Costa is too qucik and strong for Pique, Costa latches onto the ball shoots across Valdes and it's INNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN. What a start. Koke has been brillant in the early exchanges and goes onto a great run into the Barca box but Barta recovers and makes a great challenge to get the ball but wait........the ref does not agree and give Atletico a pen. I can't believe it, Villa steps up (scored 2 pens aganist Rayo in our last game) and Valdes makes a great save Villa follows up the rebound but Barta make one the best challenges I have ever seen to clear the ball for a corner, how could we miss the pen.

21 Mins: Corner for Barcelona there is abit of pushing and shoving in the box. Corner comes in alot of players end up on the floor and the ball is cleared by Atletico but the refs has blown and brought play back and awared Barca a pen (this ref loves pens) Arda is adjudged to have been to aggressive in pushing Messi. Messi steps up and calmy put away then pen. From it nearly being 0-2 its now 1-1.

We don't really create many chances after that and it becomes a real midfield battle, Fabregas had a one on one chance saved but nothing more to report.

82 Mins into the game Mascherano is Sent off for a tackle from behind on Suarez. GAME ON!!!!

87 Mins Courtois has the ball at his feet and is looking for a pass but he is taking too long and Messi is pressing him, Messi takes the ball off my keeper and kicks the ball into a empty net. HEART BREAK!

All in all it was good effort by the lads and I felt we proved ourselves and showed everyone we could hold our own aganist the BEST.

Full Time

Barcelona 2-1 Atletico: Messi Pen 21',87' RED CARD Mascherano 82' - Diego Costa 5'

End Of The Month

Third League Game

Real Sociedad 0-0 Atletico

Match Comments:

The same problems I encountered previously with Atletico reapted themselves, we dominated the whole game created all the chances but could not put the ball into the net. Saying that a draw is not too bad. Another thing to note Barcelona have signed Griezmann from Real Sociedad for £20m.

MOTM: Jose Angel (Real Sociedad)

Champions League Group Draw

The draw was not kind to us we will have to work hard to qualify for the last 16:

Deadline Day Signing

http://i44.tinypic.com/15noh09.jpg

Atletico are pleased to announce the deadline day signing of Ricky Alvarez on an initail season long loan with the option to buy him for £1.8m. Alvarez will provide cover for both the right wing and left wing. He will become very useful for the squad espically the amount of games we have to play.

Alvarez will wear the No 17 shirt.
