First press conference

It was my first day at the club. A press conference should be held. And yes, I was nervous. But i think that´s normal. I walked into the pressroom.

Hi everyone and welcome to this press conference. Today I´m delighted to announce that our manager for next season are Roberto Martinez.

Thanks Bill.

You can now ask questions to Roberto.

How does it fell to be the new Everton manager?

It´s fantastic! My journey in England continues and now I´m managing a better team.

What´s your goals for next season?

I want to play good football and especially I want to win trophys. That´s what I´m here for.

How about Leighton Baines? He has been linked to big clubs like Manchester United and Arsenal.

We are a big club. But I can understand that bigger clubs want him, he was great last season. It will be a hard decision for him to make. But if he want to leave, I will let him.

Have you already looked for any replacements for Baines?

We know some players that would fit in his position.

Which formation are you going to play?

I´ll play 4-2-3-1. I think that´s the best formation if you look at the current squad.

Who will be captain for next season?

Phil Jagielka will continue as captain. I think that he´s a natural leader, both at the pitch and outside the pitch. Leon Osman will be vice captain.

What do you think about your chairman, Bill Kenwright?

It´s my first day at the club but we have already talked a lot and I like him. We both have very big goals for this club and I think that we can reach them together.

Thanks Roberto. That was all.

Good luck Roberto!

Thanks guys!

Josh7798: Thanks! :)
Are you looking to sell players, as in John Heitinga (rumored to leave Everton)?

English 28-year-old Leighton Baines has joined Manchester City from Everton for £25m fee.

Both the City manager and the Everton manager have commented the transfer.

Leigthon Baines is a key player for us. But for that money I just could not say no. We already know some players that can replace Leighton.

Leighton is a quality player and I´m really happy that he wanted to join us. He will be a very important player for us.

The Tactics

I´m going to use two different tactics. The first is a pretty simple one. It´s a 4-2-3-1.

It´s a quite normal 4-2-3-1. Tim Howard as goalkeeper. Then we have two centre backs. They are supposed to start our attacks. Two fullbacks. Then three central midfielders. One defensive and one box to box midfielder. This is are really important part of the team. The last midfielder is an attacking midfielder. He must be very creative, he´s supposed to make the most assist. Then we have two wingers. But I want them to play more like an inside forward. If they do it they will be more involved in the game. Upfront we have a complete forward, Romelu Lukaku. His main task is to score goals. But I also want him to be involved in the passings.

This tactic is good when we plays against weaker teams and when we want to have the possession and control the game.

Then we have the second tactic. It´s a 4-3-3.

The two tactics are quite similar. But this one is more defensive. The big difference is that in this tactic we have a deep laying playmaker instead of an attacking midfielder.

This tactic is good when we plays against better team and when we wants to defend the current standing. In this tactic we will not have the possession. We´ll rather focus on counter-attacks.

Seven players leave Everton FC

It has been a busy week for Roberto Martinez. Seven players has left Everton. Here are them.

Tony Hibbert, Hull City, £150k

Darron Gibson, Swansea City, £3m

John Heitinga, Marseille, £725k

Steven Naismith, Hull City, £3.2m

Nikica Jelavic, Marseille, £5.5m

Apostolos Vellios, Nottingham Forest, Loan

Luke Garbutt, Carlisle, Loan

Roberto Martinez has commented the transfers:

I don´t think that any of the players we have sold are good enough. We are going to buy new players with this money that can improve the squad. The players we have loaned out needs to play. I hope they can do it in their new clubs and then come back stronger. We would like to thank the players for their efforts for Everton and we wish them good luck in the future.
