2020 World Awards Part 1

Welcome, one and all, to the biggest awards that will be given all year! The World Awards 2020! Every year, 4 awards are given to the people who others think deserve it the most. The current awards are; European Gold Boy, Team of the Year, World Golden Boot, and the most sought after prise in world football, The World Player of the Year!

Team of the Year

We start with the Team of the Year! A group of the best XI players across the world, put together. You have to play very well to get into the Team of the Year, so if you want the award, you've got to put that effort in!

For starters, in net, we have ageing, but still class goalkeeper, Iker Casillas. The 39 year old hails from Spain and plays for, and captains, Carlo Ancelotti's Real Madrid. The Spaniard has been pulling his weight gaining 7 Clean Sheets in 17 appearances this season, and getting 18 Clean Sheets in 30 Appearances last season. This isn't Casillas' first Team of the Year, but it certainly could be his last, as he is considering retirement at the end of the current season.

Moving on, the back four consists of, Borussia Dortmund's Marc Bartra at right-back, Manchester City players, Raphael Varane at centre-back and Alfredo Calvo at left-back. Then finally, Juventus' Bernado Konrad. Marc Bartra hails from Spain, and currently holds 52 appearances and 1 goal for the Spanish National Team to his name. He has played for Leonid Slutskiy's Dortmund, since 2014, when he moved from Barcelona for £18m. Next on the list is Frenchman, Raphael Varane, who is currently earning a hefty 165k p/w at Diego Simeone's Manchester City. He moved to the blue side of Manchester in 2013, for a fee thought to be worth around £23m. Another Manchester City player, Alfredo Calvo, who, like others in the team, is from Spain. He moved to City this season, for £12.5m from Atletico Madrid, where he was brought up from their youth academies. The final defender is Argentinian, Bernado Konrad, who currently plays for Antonio Conte's, Juventus. He moved there in the 2018/19 season for £20m, after playing for a whole host of different Argentine clubs.

Next up, at Central Midfield are, Toni Kroos and David Basauri. Toni Kroos hails from Germany, and plays for Josep Guardiola's Bayern Munich, current German Champions. He moved to Bayern Munich for 68k from lower-league German team, Rostock, all the way back in 2006. David Basauri stars in his first Team of the Year. The 23 year old Spaniard, was bought by Barcelona on a free from Atletico Madrid back in 2018.

In attacking midfield is, Danish Christian Eriksen. Eriksen moved to Tottenham Hotspur in 2013 for a fee thought to of been around £10m. This is the Dane's third Team of the Year entry.

On the wings there is, Lionel Messi and Eden Hazard. Both players have been at their respective clubs for years now. Lionel Messi has been at the club for all his career, and even at 33 years old, he is on a hefty 350k p/w. Eden Hazard is another big earner, currently on 190k p/w. The Belgian joined Chelsea from LOSC Lille in 2012 for £29m.

And last but not least, Striker of the Year, Diego Costa. The 32 year old Brazilian joined Atletico Madrid for 850k from Valladolid. This year, he gained 23 goals in 43 appearances for his club. He may have reached his peak however as it isn't likely he'll stay this good much longer
