Well, I must say, I only just woke up like ten minutes ago and flicked on Sky Sports. This Knill fellow is unfortunate to say the least. It's understandably difficult to manage a club in the depths of league two, and one that isn't the greatest financially. I wonder what the folks up at my job at BT Sport think right now. Come to think of it, why didn't I check BT Sport first? Oh, my mobile phone is ringing, who could this be at this time of day?

Sky Sports now understand that former England striker Michael Owen is travelling to Plainmoor to hold talks on becoming the new Torquay Manager. Leaked details were that Owen was to travel in his car via the motorway, but instead he managed to make it into the air in his helicopter before being seen by one of our journalists. Chairman of Torquay Thea Bristow has confirmed 'Michael is on his way here and yes, I have offered him the job".

Sensational news has reached us that Jamie Carragher, the former Liverpool stalwart defensive linchpin and good friend of Michael Owen has arrived at Plainmoor and has already been installed as the new Under 18's Coach at Torquay. And this is even before Michael Owen has set foot in Torquay. Again, Thea Bristow commented: "I trust Michael's judgement and welcome the experience that Jamie has".

I can't believe I'm on my way to become the manager of Torquay United, and how quick everything is going. I have already appointed Carragher as my Under 18's coach via phone call, but perhaps I can make another so that the three of us can sit in this press conference together. Time to give David a text.

Jim White here! It's been a hectic day so far, and we now have video footage of Michael Owen arriving in sheer style like a Rolls Royce in a helicopter at Plainmoor. The former England striker went straight inside with the board at Torquay and we will have more on this hotly developing story very soon!
