MICHAEL OWEN PRESS CONFERENCE
We bring you the brief outline of how Michael Owen's first press conference went.
1) Good afternoon Michael, good luck with this job. How are you going to approach achieving a mid-table finish this season with a Torquay squad which lacks considerable depth and quality, with only stand out players such as captain Lee Mansell?

Good afternoon. Well, I aim to undertake an evaluation of the squad with help from David and Jamie and see where we go from there. We probably do need some fresh faces but I must emphasise that knee-jerk decisions and such humongous squad overhauls have not historically paid off in these lower leagues of English football. I have already spoken to Lee Mansell and am impressed by his professional attitude, and that is what I want the players at this club to epitomise.
2) Hi Michael. There's growing speculation that you are interested in signing Liverpool midfield maestro Lucas Leiva. What are your thoughts on the matter?

Haha! Are you the source of the speculation? I have only been in this job for half a day and already I am supposedly trying to sign players, and even high profile one's at that? So. no deal. Just-no-deal!
3)What is your tactical approach to the game?
It depends. Football matches vary impeccably throughout the season and it is dangerous to have but one approach. I intend to vary our play the best I can in order to outfox our opposition. But, I will not disclose my tactical approach in public- anyone listening from rival clubs would be at an immediate advantage.
4) Aaron Downes is reportedly unhappy- will he be leaving?
I have not spoken to Aaron yet, but if it is true then he can leave if he wants. No one has to stay who does not want to. It damages morale in the squad. Thanks for your time.
Jim White here! Coming up we have premier league managers views on Michael Owen's appointment at Plainmoor!
Sorry guys. I wanted to carry on, but I've lost all my games so far and it's not good. I'm going to need to suspend this story. Torquay is difficult without a fair bit of money to improve the squad.
