Crewe Alexandra appoint Ben Davey as new manager

Crewe Alexandra have surprisingly appointed Ben Davey as the club's boss, making the 27-year-old the youngest manager in the Football League. Davey has agreed a 12-month rolling contract. Crewe chairman John Bowler said: "Ben is a young man with enormous ambition who has the talent to build on the momentum our club is building."
Davey replaces Steve Davis who announced his departure from the club last month.

Bowler added: "Ben's coaching credentials and reputation within the game are already well-established and his appointment provides us with some much-needed continuity in terms of team development, player identification and recruitment."
Davey had previously been working at AFC Bournemouth and comes highly recommended by Cherries boss Eddie Howe.

Davey told BBC Radio Crewe; "I'm thrilled and excited. I just want to get started, I wish it was the beginning of the season. The good thing is it has given me time to reflect, have a good look at things and take stock over the summer. I just really hope I can bring success".
Nice story, mate. A young boss for Crewe can make they one of the best or one of the baddest teams in the League. So, i'm excited to see what's comming. I'll be following this for sure.

Arsenal have joined Manchester United in the race for highly rated Crewe Alexandra striker Max Clayton.

http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2012/10/30/article-2225185-15C202B9000005DC-225_224x423.jpg

The 19-year-old frontman is the latest starlet to roll off the prestigious Crewe production line, making almost 50 appearances so far following his first-team debut in April 2010.

Clayton’s stock has been on the rise ever since, with scouts from Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottnham all making checks on the player in recent months.

Crewe boss Ben Davey is reluctant to sell his top players but would be willing do business at the right price. Crewe are said to want in the region of £3 millions pounds for the player, this would give the club sufficient funds to strengthen the squad and have a real push at promotion.
Need help with coding?
That would be great, thanks

Davey wants at least five new players at Crewe

Crewe Alexandra manager Ben Davey wants to bring in up to five new players this summer as he looks to build a squad capable of winning promotion from Sky Bet League 1.

Davey will have to sell first, but with Max Clayton set to leave the club there should be cash available.

Crewe have been linked with a whole host of players, including Salisbury City striker Jamie White and Bournemouth winger Donal Mcdermott.

Davey told Sky Sports News: "I am looking to bring in at least five players so we can give it a real go this year. I expect a few to leave but it should be an interesting few weeks.

Davey also admitted a deal to bring in winger Salim Kerkar was close. "Its just a case now if tying up a few loose ends, im really pleased."
