Vargas Returns in Fashion

The Chilean superstar joined Napoli in 2011 for quite a hefty sum of £13 million. Vargas had attracted attention from across the world with the likes of Arsenal keeping an eye on him. However his Napoli career was quiet in the first season and only played 10 games scoring a total of 0 goals. He then went on loan to Gremio for the first half of the season where he scored a nice 14 goals over in Brazil. With both Mertens and Callejon injured AVB put his trust in Vargas and started him out wide in his first possible game back in Italy, where he scored his first two ever goals in a 2-0 win against Genoa.

AVB has told the Italian press he is delighted with Vargas and has been relishing his return as a goalscorer is needed. He also stated Vargas was not even playing upfront when scoring his two goals which he was impressed with. He did not state where he was planning on playing Vargas on a regular basis

ALEX SANDRO JOINS NAPOLI

Serie A leaders Napoli have added to their squad by bringing in a 22 year old Brazilian full-back Alexander Sandro for 10.5 million pounds, which is deemed as a huge bargain and to be a great bit of business by AVB. Yet again AVB has used his Porto connections to his advantage and has brought a second young full back from Porto to his Napoli team, the first being the in form Corchia who is said to be delighted to be reunited with his friend.

Napoli are in need of a new full-back as Pablo Amero is the only sole left back at the club. Sandro will be looking to beat Amero to the first team spot, which many are saying he will do due to his quality. However Amero is having a good season with the league leaders.
January Review
Average month for league leaders. Two dissappointing defeats, including against poor Bolgna side to see Napoli knocked out of Italian Cup - the cup which was AVB's greatest chance of achieving silverware.
However a win away against Inter Milan proves Napoli's genuine quality this season.

Player of the Month
Eduardo Vargas

After only rejoining Napoli this month he has already been awarded this reward. Already starting to score goals, Eduardo seems to be what Napoli needs with Higuain not finding form.
I was very much enjoying this save, however with very little interest seemingly being generated, shown through the lack of comments this story was receiving I lost a lot of interest. I have now decided I would like to continue this story if others will be following as it gives me more of a passion for some reason. If you want me to continue please reply saying you want me to.
You started well. Do it!
Cheers mate, it's very much a possibility in the next couple of days. Just trying to find some motivation to play again, and trying to make myself not to start a new save.
Stay with the story.
You are doing fine and it’s just a question of time before people will catch on (and start commenting)
I have decided to continue with this story. The last update was in January, however the next update will see AVB's Napoli finish the season - lets see how they did in the League!! My aim before this save started in the first season was to qualify for any European Competition (so top 6 at the very least, but would be much more happy with top 4).
Season Review
NAPOLI WIN THE SERIE A. It only took one season for the exciting and talented manager AVB to win the league with his side Napoli. The last time Napoli won this silverware was in 1990, highlighting what a tremendous achievement this really is for the 36 year old. A disappointing season in the other areas of tournaments, but this is vastly undermined by the achievement of winning Serie A over the what was thought an impossible job to beat Juventus to the top spot.

Serie A Stats

Player of the Season
Aymen Abdennour
http://football-talk.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/Aymen-Abdennour-Toulouse-Tunisie.jpg
Abdennour has quickly stamped authority in Italy after joining the league for the first time in September last year. Abdennour was not a highly well known centre back but with the skill Villas-Boas has in the area of scouting he was sure to be a good player, but I don't think even AVB was expecting the performances this young centre back delivered for his side. At only the age of 24 this young man is surely going to implement himself into the names of the world top centre backs. Abdennour was named closely infront of Marek Hamsik for the title of player of the season, however Hamsik can still be pleased to receive the top goalscorer award for Napoli. A defender was bound to win this award, with Napoli only conceding an absolutely staggering number of a mere 18 goals.
Nice start to your story so far. Looks like this first season is going to be exciting!

My first season is over, I won the league if you look at my last update! But thankyou

Andre Villas-Boas given Serie A Manager of the Season Award

Andre Villas Boas has been handed both the Serie A manager of season award and the Manager's Serie A Manager of the Season award, showing the respect AVB has achieved from his competitors after only one year in Italy. AVB did the unbelievable after winning the Serie A in his first season with Napoli, the first time Napoli have won the trophy for 24 years.

AVB told BT Sport "I am delighted to be awarded these rewards. Me and all my team at Napoli, including the players, have worked extremely hard for success this year. My main focus was Serie A this year and thereofore I am delighted to win the league in only the first season - something I was hoping to happen in the first 3 years of myself being here. I would however like to say doing this again will be difficult but we will certainly aim to do so, and will definitely aim to perform better in Europe. Europe is the next focus for Napoli.
I would also like to use my time here to thank Giacomo Murelli, my assistant manager, who I made sure would be joining me in September. I would not have been able to achieve what has been achieved this season without Giacomo; he has taught me a great deal about the football that is played over here in Italy. He has become a great friend, and I assure the footballing world, Giacomo and I will achieve great things together, I am sure of that."

Giacomo Murelli, pictured on the left above, has been praised greatly by AVB. Murelli has been public with his admiration of AVB, and the two seem to be creating a philosophy of greatness in Napoli, that certainly will be being watched by the powerhouses of Europe.

haha, yea sorry about that. So I am embarrassed to say that I got to the end of the first page and I thought that was it. I must have been blind. I have since realized my error and kept reading.

That was a good season. Now that you have solidified your hold on the Italian league, I look forward to seeing you gain successes in Europe. Good story.

Napoli Transfer Rumours - Departures

The Serie A champions are currently on their retrospective holidays for their summer break. But this has not stopped the rumours being circulated about who will be joining and leaving Naples this summer. With AVB saying he wants to go further in Europe next season he will be wanting to strengthen his side as much as possible. However with Napoli impressively winning Serie A many of the players will be generating huge interest from the big teams in Europe such as Barcelona and Manchester City, and the question will be can AVB hold onto these key players?

Marek Hamsik
http://www.wellneverdie.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/Marek-Hamisk.jpg
The first big rumour is Manchester City being reportedly highly interested in signing the Napoli Attacking midfielder who was top goalscorer for the Italian league winners. Hamsik is arguably already Napoli's most talented player and at such a young age he still has an absolutely ginormous future ahead of him. However with the club stature of Manchester City being bigger than Napoli it may be hard to stop Hamsik being highly attracted to the prospect of joining the English club.

Lorenzo Insigne

Another player reportedly being in danger of leaving Napoli is the man with the most assists for Napoli last season Insigne, someone who can play anyone up the top of the pitch. AVB chose to favour playing him out wide which proved to work well, with many assists and the odd goal. Insigne would be a loss for Napoli, however if more quality is to come into the Napoli squad more money will be needed, which a deal seeing Insigne leave would allow to happen. Paris Saint Germain are said to be the main contenders for the signing of Insigne. Rather interestingly Sky Sports can reveal an offer of £9.5 million by Tottenham was rejected.

Gonzalo Higuain

Higuain was bought only last season for Napoli, however there is already talk about him leaving. Sky Sports can not reveal who is interested in signing Higuain, however it is thought Napoli are wanting to see rid of the striker who did not seem to adapt well to Italian football last season. Despite the lack of goals, Higuain was a regular starter for Napoli, and the desirable performances by the team as a whole means he didn't do too much of a bad job at all. AVB however is rumoured to be wanting a more prolific goal scorer.

Other players are also said to be under interest, including Gokan Inler who is a target for Manchester United.
With so much interest it will be hard for AVB to decide what to do. The question is who do the fans want to stay and who do they not mind going? (COMMENT OPINIONS BOYS)
