Post match analysis

Scotland Squad:

The new formation really made a difference and Mcgregor was dropped onto the bench due to poor form. Pic taken after match that is why their condition is poor.

Match events/Scorers:

Possibly a little lucky with the own goal but it still doesnt take away from the result im very pleased with the teams performance.

Match Statistics

Man of the match: Jordan Rhodes!

A very successful campaign, lets hope we can continue the form against England and then onto the World cup.

Scotland rise significantly in FIFA rankings

Fifa today announced the new worldwide ranking and is saw Scotland rise from 44th to an amazing 26th. The national side have proven that they deserve the bump up the ladder by recently qualifying for the world cup in 2014 after beating teams like Croatia, Belgium and Czech Republic.

The highest ranking Scotland have ever had was in 2007 when they were placed 13th in the world in 2007, but new manager Dalglish has shown that he has big ambitions and may won day beat the current record. The lowest Scotland have ever placed in the Fifa rankings was 88th in 2005.

Also the new rankings saw Spain retain their top spot and also saw Faroe Islands rise by a huge 43 places from 156th to 113th , they were the biggest risers in the new report published this morning.
YESSSS!!!! Get in well done mate :D so happy that you got them to the world cup onwards and upwards :D
Cameroncox96 Yes! im so pleased that i managed to accomplish it, i thought for a while during the first game against Czech Republic that it was not meant to be but obviously i was wrong, Hopefully we can do well at the world cup :D

Scotland handed tough group

Today fifa officials conducted the draw to determine the groups for the World Cup in Brazil.
Scotland and England are both representing The UK in the draw.Scotland received the hardest draw between England and Scotland with the scots getting Colombia, Japan and Ukraine.

England on the other hand got an easier group by drawing U.S.A,Uruguay and Angola.aEngland fans will be hopeful their team have the skill to reach the next stage.

The groups

Most groups are very competitive and will provide very good entertainment for the viewers.Scottish Manager Kenny Dalglish commented on his group.

"Its a tough group but over the last few months i think we have proved our ability to beatgood teams and hopefully we will continue to show this in june when the World Cup starts"
Those teams may not be high in the rankings but they will still pose a challenge. Good luck.
Jamesg237 Thanks!Yeah they will be a challenge to beat so we will have to see what happens.

SCOTLAND VS ENGLAND

As the final whistle blows at Hampden, England come out victorious with a 2-1 win over the brave scots who tried and tried, but couldnt break down a strong English defence.

The game started badly when Phil Jones put England ahead on the 13th minute via a corner from Steven Gerrard, The ball somehow found its way to the defender after a goal mouth scramble and all he had to do was tap it in.

Scotland However came back with an amazing goal from youngster Tony Watt who is currently on loan and Lierse in Belgium from Celtic, Watt turned Chris Smalling instinctivly before Hammering the ball away from 19 yards into the top corner, It was a goal he will never forget.

The sides went in all square at half time but England came out the Stronger in the second half with constant pressure on the Scottish defence, England finally broke through from another corner when steven gerrard swung in the ball grant Hanley of Scotland miss timed his clearance which saw it go the opposite direction of his trailing leg into his own goal on the 63rd minute.

It was a tremendous match for the neutral supporter with many chances swapped between both sides, England will be the happier of the two teams with a solid victory of their fierce rivals scotland ahead of the world cup.

Scotland manager Kenny Dalglish answered some questions on the match

Do you feelyou were unlucky or just not good enough?

"I personally feel that England were better on the night, but we cant be to disheartened as we played well and against one of the best teams in the world i think we did ourselves proud"

What did you say to the players?

"I told them that its just a friendly and for them to not get down about it, I think we should come out of this game having learned a few things that we can develop before the World cup!"

Speculation rises over Scotland Sqaud

As we get closer to the date that International teams have to submit their squad for the World cup,Scotland have been highly monitored by the media to see who Manager Kenny Dalglish will decide to include.
Scotland who have so far overachieved in every bodies eyes are facing a tough test in Brazil after drawing Colombia, Ukraine and Japan.Dalglish has left wide speculation over the squad that he will take to the tournament in June.

Many believe the manager will leave some key players out of the squad like Shaun Maloney and Grant hanley after both suffering Injuries earlier in the season and have struggled to regain form. However the media also speculate that he may call up some unexpected faces, like youngster Iain Vigurs of motherwell who has been on excellent form which has merited him a call up in the qualifiers back in August.Another player widely expected to be taken to the finals is Hearts Centre back Danny Wilson, The former Liverpool man has been on inspiring form for the Edinburgh side an is tipped to get Player of the year at the end of the season.

Dalglish refused to comment on team selection at recent charity match which saw an Scotland side with sports personalities past/present and celebrities take on an England side filled with past/present sports personalities and celebrities. Scotland won the game on penalties with Wimbledon champion Andy Murray Scoring the decisive goal from 12 yards.
Andy Murray should have scored and then Gerard Butler runs up to him and tears his head of his neck for the banter. (I do like Andy Murray by the way) ;)
Cameroncox96 haha, that would have made the headlines the next day ;)

Scotland Squad announced

The squad of 23 fpr Scotland world cup campiagnhas been decided and released to the
press, most of the squad that was predicted has been selected although there are a few suprises also.

The main players to have been left out of the squad are Shaun maloney who has been poor for Wigan and Dalglish obviously didnt feel he deserved a place in the squad, Also more surprisingly is that Jamie Mackie of Nottingham Forest has been left out of the squad,The striker has been on inspiring form but Ross McCormack has been selected ahead of him.

As expected Danny wilson and Iain Vigurs were both called up to the squad along with James Forrest and Tony Watt. All players on great form for their clubs and Dalglish has decided to go with them instead of a more experienced squad.

The majority of the Scotland squad plays out of the country with only 4 playing in the Scotland its self, They being, Vigurs, Mulgrew, Forrest and Tony Watt.

The squad:

Danny Wilson? and no Scott Brown?
