International report

Moldova VS Ukraine

Moldova, clearly not the best nation knocking about, but they would now be the next team to face them in the World cup qualifiers. Under new management, Ukraine COULD find it slightly difficult in their competitive games, however a slip up to Moldova or San Marino is never on the cards.

The game kicked off, and as quick as you can say 'goal' we were 1-0 up! SOme lovely passing on the edge of the box saw Ukraine keep the ball for about 20 seconds before Yarmolenko made the run splitting open the Moldova defense with Devic's pass! He still had it all to do, and was very collective in the way he approached the situation. He took one touch and BAM! 1-0, he shot right in to the top corner!

On 26 minutes, it was time for our reliable right winger to collect his brace with a penalty, he took three steps back, the pressure was on...But no, that didn't matter as he rolled it into the right bottom corner sending the keeper the wrong way. Just before half time, he Yarmolenko now could take home the match ball with another penalty, he stepped up again...He shot, the keeper went the right way but it wasn't enough! Yarmolenko had secured a hattrick with an almost identical goal to his second.

The game was now over, but not for Ukraine, Devic had the ball on the half way line and looked up to see Yarmolenko making another run, he chipped the ball over two defenders and Yarmolenko was off like a leopard! He touched the ball down and had a crack a goal...Top corner!! He'd scored his fourth goal of the game, and the last! Another three points in the bag for Ukraine!

Ukraine VS San Marino

Another win for Ukraine would see them stay just 5 points off of England, however if England were to slip up, they'd be 2 points behind, and they could then really give England a run for their money!

Contender for goal of the tournament here? Ukraine, were once again playing the one touch passing style that was starting to become a regular theme for them, the ball was passed out to Yarmolenko on the wing, where he could make a dash forward, he stopped a few yards away from the corner flag and cut a cross backward to Rybalka, who used his pure genius to thunder the ball on the volley, and in one split second the ball was just suddenly in the back of the net, the keeper didn't know what hit him! In fact...no one did! A fantastic goal!

Our next two goals then came from our inform striker Devic, the first, he pounced onto one of Rybalka's parried shots and hit tapped the ball into the net from a tight angle, his second came from Rybalka again, some marvelous skill on the wing saw him able to drill a cross in where Devic directed the ball past the keeper making the score 3-0.

Our right back Fadetskyi then made it for on the night, a slick pass from Devic let him loose on goal and he managed to just squeeze the ball past the keeper on his near post. 4-0.

It was now San Marino's turn, I am disappointed we couldn't keep the clean sheet but It's not as if it matters. San Marino took a corner late on and it ricocheted off of the post and Della Valle reacted well bye hitting the ball in to the bottom corner.

90 minutes had passed, and Ukraine just were not done. Morozyuk crossed the ball in from a corner, Sydorchuk met it heading it onto Shevchuk who passed the ball through about 8 players back to Sydorchuk who passed the ball into an empty net. 5-1 was the final score, but Ukraine shouldn't take anything from it. Win's against San Marino are expected for even the small teams like Armenia, and Estonia.

Good wins, even if they are against crap teams :P

I'm loving the detail in each update :D
I like the detail in the updates too so keep up the good work
Neal & Jasonvilla: Cheers guys, people seem to like it a lot these days so I try to put in as much as possible :)

Gerrard:'Yarmolenko the Key'

Last night, England skipper Steven Gerrard sat down to answer some of the questions the press had to ask. He answered many questions ranging from 'Are you able to captain England at the World Cup' to 'Can England win it'.
He also spoke about England's next opponents, Ukraine. A side currently on form, winning their last four games against Poland (1-0), Paraguay (5-1), Moldova (4-0), and San Marino (5-1). Both teams will be fighting for the three points but it is no doubt that Ukraine will be the more eager set of players to get the three points. If they beat England tonight, and win their last game against Montenegro they will automatically qualify. Given that Poland BEAT England!! If results don't go their way, it'll be the play offs for Ukraine.

One of the questions answered by Gerrard was about Ukraine's 'key' players. He told the press that if they were to win the game against Ukraine, they MUST stop their right winger Yarmolenko. Here is exactly what the lad said;

Gerrard: "I think anyone with any sense has to acknowledge thhat this will be hard for us. It's not going to be like the other games in the group. Ukraine will be tough opposition and we must respect them, they are a great side. Whilst new management for them makes it a little easier for us, they are still on a massive high at the moment due to recent performances.

We want to beat Ukraine, and we must, must, MUST stop their key players if we are to do so. Yarmolenko and Konoplyanka, for instance. They are such good players and they will do their best to hassle us all game and it is up to us to stop them."

When asked on the importance of the game, he again had much to saym but it seems even he believes the game is more important for the Ukrainians.

Gerrard: "This game will mean everything to Ukraine. If we lose, they go two points behind us. Then it's just a win for them and another loss for us to see them automatically first. Of course, we don't want to have to participate in the play offs, and we are certain we won't have to. Even if we do lose to Ukraine tomorrow night, we will make sure we don't make the same mistake against Poland. We will go through automatically, I am certain."

Ukraine VS England

Shepherd: Good afternoon everyone and welcome to Sky Sports one where Ukraine and England will be going head to head at the Donbas-Arena in Donetsk, in just a few moments time but first, I am joined by Graeme Souness and Jamie Redknapp who will give their take on the game! Jamie...Your thoughts on the Ukraine line up?

Redknapp: Afternoon, Ben! Well, first of all I think they have lined up in an attacking formation but I do believe they will purposely go out and just defend through the first half, I think they will look to let England come at them and wear themselves out, and in the second half I fully believe Hagi will go all out attack to win the game. Obviously depending on the score line at the time, but generally I believe that is Hagi's main tactic tonight. It's very simple, but can be extremely effective when facing top teams.

Souness: Yeah, I agree. I think England have lined up in a fairly normal formation, I think they'll want to just take control of the game early on and look to get 1 or 2 goals before half time so that the second half won't be made too difficult. They haven't got their best squad out, god knows why but their own captain has been left out, but nonetheless I think they can get the job done.

Shepherd: Well, thanks guys. We will now hand you guys at home over to live commentators Gary Neville, and Jamie Carragher!

Neville: Yes, hello and welcome to England vs Ukraine. Yarmolenko and Zozulya about to get the game under way...And we're off!

Carragher: Well, this looks like it will be a very good game, the build up has been fantastic...So let's hope it provides. Ukraine starting well here.

Neville: Yeah, some good play here, knocking the ball around...Maybe a defensive style from Ukraine unlikely!

16' - Carragher: England, knocking it around well here. Young...Carrick, passed to through Chamberlain! Could be a chance now!! OHH!! Just wide there!

Neville: Well, that's a poor shot! A very poor effort from Chamberlain there. It's agonizingly close, but you've gotta test the keeper from there.

18' - Neville: Here we go then, Ukraine on the attack. Rotan on the half way line, great long ball to Yarmolenko! Yarmolenko is in now, what can he do? Speeding into the box now, cuts in...across goal to DEVIIIC!! GOAL FOR UKRAINE!

Carragher: Oh, what a goal! Absolutely brilliant from Ukraine there, and from Yarmolenko. Rotan spots him making the run he plays the long ball but has it all to do, takes it away from the goal but Devic is there to tap it in! Great play from Ukraine. England must do better.

19' - Neville: Well, England get the match going again, 1-0 Ukraine. Lampard. To Chamberlain, what can he do here, he makes the run, still going just outside the box now. Can he find space for a cross, he can! Ball curled away from goal...and YOUNG!!! ENGLAND LEVEL!

Carragher: Oh dear...Oh dear oh dear. Ukraine what are you doing? It's complacent, it's very poor defending, they've gone 1-0 up and are practically still celebrating AFTER England have kicked off. Professionals should know how stay focused these days, but from Ukraine...Well, Hagi will be very disappointed with his defense.

38' - Carragher: Baines with the corner. Lifts it in to JAGIELKA! Oh!! So close there, I think half the stadium thought that was in!

Neville: Well, I certainly did that's for sure. Very unlucky from the Everton defender.

45' - Neville: Half time! What a half it has been, 2 great goals, complacency from Ukraine but can they pick themselves up? I am not so sure, England have been the better side this half.

Neville: Welcome back guys, England about to kick off now. Lampard has it, long ball to Young, oh that's poor! What a horrible touch from Young there...Goal kick.

Carragher: Must try harder.

58' - Carragher: Konoplyanka will take this, long free kick here. Lifts in, Kachendi heads it, only as far as Jagielka who heads it back over to SHEVCUK!!! Hart saves!! Open goal...YARMOLENKO!! 2-1! Poor defending. An atrocity from England.

Neville: No one, will be more disappointed than Jagielka there...It was a tough header to pull off as Devic was challenging for it too but you can't put it across your goal like that! I think it's unlucky, but full marks to Ukraine for taking their chances!

67' - Neville: Sterling on Young off, Gerrard on Carrick off.

75' - Neville: Cahill, now. To Gibbs, now Defoe...Long ball to Rooney long way out but he has a CRACK! OOH! Not far off either...

Carragher: Inches...Inches away from that being 2-2.

89' - Carragher: Babenko now, young midfielder for Ukraine. Zozulya. Also a young player, a striker. Zozulya to to Devic, Devic spots Konoplyanka making the run, passes! Could this be three, he is in now, Devic is there for support, he'll give it to Devic! OPEN GOAL!!! OHHHH!! Oh my word...

Neville: Very, very poor. He could of made it 3-1! Look, it's an open goal! Very disappointing from Ukraine's 'star' striker. Hagi won't be happy with that, but they WILL take the 3 points back home with them. The game is over, England will be disappointed but a point from the Poland game will do it. Back to the studio, Ben.

Shepherd: Well, what a poor performance in the second half from England, but you've got to hand it to Ukraine, agreed? Graeme?

Graeme: Of course, I mean, England in the second half were very poor, but take nothing away from them Ukraine were brilliant, and they deserve their win.

Shepherd: A win from the Montenegro game will see Ukraine through straight away IF England fail to gain a point from the Poland game...Any chances of Ukraine going on to nick first place right at the depth?

Redknapp: I think they have every opportunity Ben, they are on great form and this run just proves Hagi's intent to take Ukraine forward, and good luck to them, but good luck to them in the PLAY OFFS. I would like to see them at the World Cup next year though as I think they'll be a great team to watch, maybe one of the most exciting teams there. A dark horse.

Shapherd: Well, thank you for watching guys we hope you enjoyed the game as much as we did, come back in 4 days time for Ukraine vs Montenegro, it looks to be one hell of a game!

Yarmolenko:'No stopping me!'

Before the game against Ukraine, England skipper Steven Gerrard was speaking to BBC Sports about England's chances in their next game and the World Cup finals. He also said that if they wanted to win then stopping key players such as Konoplyanka and Yarmolenko is a must. However, the Yarmolenko who scored the winner against England last night has responded to England's Gerrard stating that "He cannot be stopped." Here he is:

Yarmolenko: I am so pleased we got the win against England, and I am over the moon that I was able to get the winner. Before the game some comments were made by Steven Gerrard, and I want to thank him. I actually took it as a compliment, and complacency from England. I couldn't believe the England captain singled me and Kono out, it was nice to hear coming from someone like him!

As much as I am proud, I do want to say a few things myself. What Gerrard said about needing to stop me...I cannot be stopped, right now. No way! I am on form for my country and I have 6 goals in three games, how good is that? Yes I get that two of those were against Moldova and San Marino but it is still an achievement. I am also on form for Dynamo and I feel like I just cannot be stopped at this point. It isn't arrogance, this is how I feel...At this point in time I feel brilliant, and if I am to reach my peak at the average age of 27 then so be it because I will be brilliant! Again, not arrogance. I am just extremely confident of myself!

Yarmolenko, not being arrogant there remember...Just confidence! So, as we look ahead to the Ukraine vs Montenegro game, we will see how other players are feeling. Here is Ukraine captain Rotan when asked on taking 1st place in the qualifiers.

Rotan: The whole squad is high in confidence now, especially after the England game which we have Yarmo to thank for of course, Hagi has been really helpful, to me and to everyone. He has supported us and helped us through some tough personal battles and everyone is feeling good ahead of Montenegro. If we win and England win so be it, we will take a play off spot, but we won't rest until we are through it. However, if we do win and England somehow defy the odds and lose, it'll be a job well done. Any other result than a win for us will be a disappointment but we aren't thinking about that, we are thinking about staying focused and working on our prep for the game.
Of course not. He's Yarmolenko. Great updates.
Great few updates! I love the new match coverage style as well
You go Ukraine! Well done, keep it up
LFC: Cheers mate :)

Arsenal: Cheers, I'll try and keep it that way eh;)

FMProjec: GO us!
Nice updates and quality detail.
Haha screw England!
Bayern: Cheers mate, will keep em coming! :P

Neal Hahaha, good old American rivalry;)

Montenegro VS Ukraine

Chiles: Good evening everyone, and welcome to ITV One, where very soon a massively important fixture for both Ukraine and England will be kicking off, It's Ukraine vs Montenegro! I am joined by Gareth Southgate, and ex Irish international Roy Keane.
Good afternoon guys, it's a fine, clear night here in London. The perfect weather for a match like this! Which way do you see this going?

Keane: I can see it going Ukraine's way tonight, the England came will see the group on high confidence, but I think Hagi will be making sure over-confidence doesn't become a theme in this next game, he'll want to win, they all will! I'm going 2-0 Ukraine.

Southgate: Mabey a bit of bias here, but I am going to have to go for a draw, Ukraine have lined up in their usual attacking line up, and although beating England will obviously help them, the height of their defensive line won't help. I can see them scoring, but can also see Montenegro scoring, so I think a 1-1 draw is likely!

Chiles: Well, the scores have been predicted, will it be a win for Ukraine? A win for Montenegro? Or will it be a stale mate? We will hand you over now to Martin Tyler, and Gary Neville for the live commentary, as the game kicks off in just a few seconds.

Tyler: Thank you Adrian! Welcome everybody, to another, clash of the titans! It's Ukraine vs Montenegro. If Ukraine must win this game and hope England lose their next to qualify automatically. Any other out come will see them take to the play offs!

Neville: That's right, a must win game for Ukraine here, can they do it? Well, we'll just have to wait and see now. Ukraine, get the game under way.

Tyler: Here we are then, Ukraine will look to keep control of the early stages which could potentially make this game a lot easier in the latter stages of it. All they need is for key players to perform and get just one goal. All they can do then is hope. They have started off well here...

8' - Tyler: Montenegro, probably started off the better of the two teams today. Jovetic, in the center of the park. Passes to Grbic on the wing to Djordjevic...Montenegro can attack now, Grbic makes the run, Djordjevic with pass GOOAL! Djordjevic slides the ball through to Grbic and he makes no mistake in putting it in to the far bottom corner!

Neville: This must be one of the best team goals I have seen all season, Jovetic starts the attack in the centre of the pitch, and from then on it's just one pass, 2 pass...another, and goal. 5 touches to get the ball up the field and in the goal, class play.

27' - Neville: Rotan. Up to Bezus, Devic now, might be Ukraine's chance to score, on the wing to Yarmolenko, beats one, makes the space drills it in can DEVIC GET THERE? OOOH! How close was that?! He just needed the tiniest of touches on that, and it would have been 1-1. Very unlucky!!

45' - Tyler: half time approaching now, but Ukraine do have a corner. Can they do it? Konoplyanka with the ball in, ZOZULYA!! Oh lord! How close was that, very unlucky for Ukraine again, just an inch over the bar! But half time now anyway. Ukraine will be hoping for a better performance in the second half.

50' - Tyler: It's been a very dull first 5 minutes to the half, hasn't it Gary?

Neville: It has, I am just hoping for a bit of excitment soon I mea-

Tyler: Oh! Something could be on here! Jovetic in the centre again, Montenegro on the counter, up to Grbic, he has space now! Runs down the line, in to Vucinic, one touch lay off to RAICEVIC!!! 2-0 Montenegro! England fans will be over joyed by this, I know I am!

Neville: Won't they just. Great performance from Montenegro today, Ukraine just haven't turned up.

87' - Tyler: It's been a very dull and boring second half, but for England fans they will be over the moon! Something could be on here for Ukraine though. Konoplyanka! Crosses it in from deep, GOOOAL!! UKRAINE HAVE A GOAL! Oh wait...No, no it will not count! Oh how disappointed must Yarmolenko be? That was a great goal.

Neville: Let's see that again shall we? Kono crosses it in, and no, nooo no no! He's onside there for me!

Tyler: Only just, but it is onside! He will be so disappointed with that.

90' - Neville: Games almost over now. Nothing for Ukraine to play for, they go to the play offs. Yep, refs blown his whistle. It's over!

Tyler: Yeah, not the greatest game, but for England fans they can rest for the next 5 minutes until their game is over, we aren't actually sure what the score is over in Warsaw, but we'll hand you over to Adrian, Roy and Gareth now, good bye!

Chiles: Thank you, Martin. Some great coverage there. We can confirm that England are 1-0 up, the score wouldn't matter anyway but just to clarify, they should be going home with a win tonight. Roy! Thoughts?

Keane: Well, I am very surprised, I actually thought Ukraine might trounce Montenegro tonight, but that's turned out to be not the case. Montenegro played very well though, you have to hand it to them...Especially Grbic, what a player he is. He has done very well tonight, he has done his country proud.

Southgate: Yeah, I was surprised at the result but I agree with Roy. He's done his country proud, even if they are bowing out early.

Chiles: Quick, last question. What did you think of Yarmolenko? He said a week or so back that he couldn't be stopped, have Montenegro successfully stopped him?

Southgate: No i don't think so, he was a nightmare for Montenegro, they did hold him off for a while but he was the only decent player for Ukraine, he was bombarding the box with crosses, good ones too which no one got on the end of. He even scored towards the end of the game, and it shouldn't have been disallowed, no way.

Keane: Yes, I agree. They may have won but he was still fantastic today, Ukraine will also be disappointed with this loss but they will move forward and look to get through the play offs. There are some hard teams there as well, Russia, Spain...Switzerland. It'll be tough but I think they'll be in Brazil next summer.

Chiles: Well, thank you guys, their next game will be covered on sky sports, both of the legs as well, and the next time you see them on ITV could well be at the World Cup. Let's hope so, what an exciting team to watch! Goodbye guys!
