I will be playing this save as the club I support - Liverpool FC. I have supported Liverpool since my early childhood, but living 172 miles is away is a real inconvenience. People ask me how I came to support the club. With none of my family members supporting the club (instead opting to show their support to London clubs like Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea), some of my friends think it odd that I didn't take a shining to the same clubs.

Lately, the blue half of Merseyside has stepped up in its efforts to match its local rivals - and some would say that the two sides are equal now. I am not one of these fans that hate other clubs (other than sections of Manchester United and Chelsea support) so I hold no grudges against Everton. In this story, however, I will of course be looking to push ahead of The Toffees and, hopefully instantly bring back "European Nights" to Anfield. It will be near impossible to match the likes of Bob Paisley and Bill Shankly in terms of managerial ability, but I hope that during this story, I can establish my managers' name as one of the best to manage Liverpool.

My manager for this story will be current Liverpool boss, Brendan Rodgers. The Northern Irish manager came into slight criticism from the Liverpool faithful last season for the teams' performance. A 7th place finish was not enough to earn a Europa League spot, as Swansea City had won the Capital One Cup months earlier, ensuring a spot for themselves, and leaving Liverpool fans devastated. The 41-year-old was praised by many for his transfer policy, however, notably after bringing in English striker Daniel Sturridge from Chelsea, and Phillipe Coutinho, nicknamed David Blaine by his team-mates due to his wonderful skill and trickery. Both transfers, made in the January transfer window, were labelled as bargains at the end of the season, once the skill and ability of the two players had been shown since their arrival at the club.

Rodgers is one of the youngest managers in the top flight, and still has plenty to learn. He was hired by Chelsea manager José Mourinho in 2004 as head youth coach, and was later promoted to reserve team manager. In 2008, he made his first venture into football management. He led Watford to a 13th place finish in the Sky Bet Championship (at the time, the Npower Championship) after it had looked as though The Hornets were going to be relegated. Weeks after ensuring their survival, however, Rodgers joined his former team, Reading. He was unsuccessful during his spell at The Madejski Stadium, and left by mutual consent, with The Royals lingering just one place ahead of the relegation zone.

A successful time at Swansea City, in which Rodgers led the Welsh side to the Premier League, and in his, and the clubs' first season in the top flight, they managed an impressive 11th place finish. Then came the turning point in his career. Kenny Dalglish was sacked from Liverpool following a very disappointing return to Anfield, and in came Rodgers. May a new legacy begin.
Well, as much as I despise Liverpool, I will be following this one, Good luck!
Great start mate, I <3 Liverpool so i'll be following this :)
<-- He does look like he's about to burst out laughing!

Nice update and good luck. After almost getting them relegated in TAAAANNNNNAAAAAYYY's competition I know how tough it can be xD
Good start and good luck LFC :)
Should be interesting to see you in the character of Brendan Rodgers!
Nice start, good luck. Let's hope we can both make our stories last long :)
A good start to yet another Liverpool story. Do the club proud! YNWA!
Good luck with this, Adam!

Exclusive: Brendan Rodgers Chats to BT Sport about the upcoming season and we get his opinions on his signings from last season!

We've sent Jake Humphrey down to Melwood to catch up with Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers. The Northern Irishman invited our team into his office, where we began our interview, while the players and coaches worked hard on a training routine. You can catch the full interview below.

Brendan, thank you for allowing us to speak with you today. We saw that the players were sweating out there on the training pitch. It seems you've got them working hard in preparation for the season which is excitingly just around the corner. Do you have anything to add about the performances from the lads in training?

No problem at all. First of all, I'd like to just tell you how impressed I have been with the whole team. The youngsters have stepped up their game, and I have been really pleased by the glimpses of quality I've seen from the likes of Raheem [Sterling] and Jon Flanagan. I've had Stevie [Steven Gerrard] working one to one with Jon, as they're both local lads, so I feel that with Steven's leadership, Jon will really blossom, and I think you'll be able to see that come the start of the season. As for the rest of the squad, I couldn't be happier. Luis [Suárez] has shown real determination to do right by the team, and once he is back, and available for selection, he is going to be a real threat.

If we could just speak for a brief moment about Suárez, and the controversy at the end of last season? How has he been feeling, now that he will serve a six match suspension at the start of this season? And how do you as his boss feel?

Well, obviously it was very disappointing from Luis but he has apologized - I know the fans want more, but what else can he do, other than work hard in training and score goals when he returns? I can assure the fans that he is working 110% in training, and he has shown huge remorse to me and the rest of the lads, and of course, the fans. But now he is over that, and is focusing on his football, which is exactly what I want from him.

Suárez was given a 10 match ban for biting Chelsea's Branislav Ivanović at the end if last season.

Have you any fear that you may lose him to a team who is playing continental football?

No. Not at all. Of course there has been speculation, and of course there was that bid from Arsenal, which we rejected - it was insulting, to be completely honest. But other than that bid, other interest is pure speculation at this moment in time. Neither myself or John [W. Henry, owner of Liverpool Football Club] have been contacted over the availability of Luis, and he remains a Liverpool player. I can't see that changing.

Last season was a disappointment; but signs of brilliance shone through at times - you received a lot of praise from the media and the fans for the signings of Daniel Sturridge and Phillipe Coutinho. How will the two feature in your plans for the coming season, and how relieved were you that the two players seemingly repaid their price tags?

I wouldn't call it relief. Myself and the scouting team took a risk in buying these two players and it paid off. Of course I am happy at the decision that I made to bring the two players in, but they have only been here for half a season. The hard work begins now; I've spoken to Dan [Daniel Sturridge] and Coutinho, and they know what my expectations are for this season.

Can you tell us of your transfer plans for the upcoming season?

[laughs] I'd love to! But I don't want to get the hopes of the fans up; obviously I've delved into the transfer market already to snatch a few players - Luis Alberto, Iago Aspas, Victor Moses and Mamadou Sakho. All I will say is that I am looking at bringing in another striker so that we have sufficient cover until Luis returns.
Very detailed update there mate!
Great update, you make Brendan Rodgers seem somewhat normal! Don't forget you HAVE to add the one weird quote which makes no sense at all ;)
You best stick to your Liverpool story this time! ;)

Kop Favourite Returns to Anfield

Jamie Carragher, prior to playing his final game for Liverpool, was given a guard of honour at Anfield.

Liverpool FC is excited to announce the return of Jamie Carragher. Jamie will join Brendan Rodgers' coaching staff, and will begin work immediately. During his playing career with our club, he was renowned for his leadership qualities, and struck up a friendship with fellow academy graduate, fellow Liverpudlian and current England and Liverpool captain, Steven Gerrard. The 36-year-old has resigned from his post as a pundit for Sky Sports with immediate effect. Carragher will come into the staffing team as a youth coach. He knows what it takes to come through the academy here, and the youth sides will benefit from his knowledge and expertise. Details about his wage have not been released, but inside sources at the club suggest that the player, nicknamed "Carra" by fans, will be earning approximately £8,000 per week at Anfield.

Carragher began his career with Liverpool, despite growing up supporting their local rivals Everton. He would regularly turn up to youth training, wearing an Everton shirt with "Graeme Sharp" written across the back of it. At the age of 11, he switched to his favoured side, and joined the Everton academy for a year, but returned to The Reds in 1990, due to a preference in the coaching system at Anfield. He would stay with the club until 2013, and played his final game for the club in the final game of the 2012-2013 season against Queens Park Rangers. This game marked his 737th game for the club - he is only the second player, along with Manchester United's Ryan Giggs, to play more than 500 league games for the same club. Often mocked by rivals for his tendency to score own goals, the former Liverpool captain completed a fantastic achievement while at the club - he was part of Liverpool's Champions League victory over A.C. Milan in 2005.

It has been too long since we were in Europe, and Carragher will hope that during his return here, he will be able to help the team to produce some fantastic youth, capable of winning the tournament once again.
He'd be a good edition to the back room staff, let's just hope he doesn't start making your defenders score own goals ;)
Agreed^ If you start scoring own goals, you know who to sack ;) Anyway, good edition the the staff, can't wait to see your signings!!
