UCL Match Preview

The Emirates Stadium awaits the clash between Arsenal and PAOK

The two teams are now ready and PAOK is set to arrive at London tomorrow. Arsenal have won their previous game against Cardiff City 2-0 in the Barclays Premier League with goals from Olivier Giroud and Arsenal's new player, Morgan Schneiderlin. Arsenal are considered favorites for this match with the advantage that they play at home first.

Pre-match Press Conference

Journalist: "Good evening, Mr. Wenger. We journalists have plenty of questions to ask. First of all, who do you intend to play tomorrow? And what will your playing style be?"

Arsène Wenger: "Good evening. Tomorrow, since we are favorites, we’ll try to play an attacking style of football, controlling the ball in the middle of the field, whilst also being responsible at the back. The back four will be Sagna, Kosielny, Balanta, and Monreal. As for midfield, Ramsey and Arteta will start. Wilshere will be playing in his preferred position, with Özil on the right wing, and Cazorla on the left. Podolski isn’t fully fit, so Giroud will start."

Journalist: “It is rumored that Nicklas Bendtner will leave the club before the transfer window shuts. Is that true?

Arsène Wenger: “Yeah, we have been trying to find him a new club, and there’s a lot of interest from clubs. The reason we’re letting him leave is that we’ve got two strikers, that is Podolski and Giroud, and another backup, which is Walcott. I didn’t really feel he would get much playing time so I listed him for transfer.”

Journalist: “There are also rumors that you’re looking to bring in Thibaut Courtois to your squad, who is currenty at Atlético Madrid on loan from Chelsea. Are you looking forward to bring him in?”

Arsène Wenger: “I know Courtios is a very good goalkeeper, and he is often labeled as the next Oliver Kahn, or the next Edwin van der Sar, but it’s unlikely that we’ll make a move for him. I don’t even think he might be interested. Chelsea’s going to need him soon, as Petr Cech is getting old. I believe he (Courtios) would add something to the club, but we’ve still got Szczesny and Timo Horn.”

Journalist: “Do you feel you can really win the league this season?”

Arsène Wenger: “It’s too early to decide who will win. But we’ve got the players, the confidence and the motivation to win, so why not?”

Journalists: “Thanks for answering our questions. Good luck with your next match."

Arsenal have announced the lineup for their upcoming match against PAOK
Atlético Madrid Sign Bendtner

Arsenal have announced that striker Nicklas Bendtner has left the club and signed for Spanish side Atlético Madrid for €4.5m. Wenger has previously said that selling him would be his best option as he wouldn’t get that much playing time.

Bendtner has described his happiness about signing for such a large and well-known club, saying “It’s a real pleasure to play for such a huge team. I feel that here I can win several trophies. I am excited about playing derbies here, and I really want to make landmarks and win silverware."

Arsenal Victorious in First Champions League Game of the Season

Arsenal have a narrow 1 goal lead over their UCL Playoff opponents PAOK. Arsenal emerged victorious 2-1 with goals from Özil and Giroud. Although the Gunners got the win they wanted, they may have wanted it by a bigger margin.

Wenger: “I’m glad we got the win but we wanted a bigger margin than a 1 goal lead. We throughly dominated the match and we deserved more goals. We have put the result behind us now and we are focusing on our next match against Hull City in the Barclays Premier League”

The Gunners next match will be in the Barclays Premier League against Hull City at the Emirates Stadium

Arsenal are once again victorious thanks to a towering Mertesacker header.
