Cardiff vs Bristol City - 12th January 2019
1-0
Denswil 7.2 rating
Werner pen 90+2 mins

Manager's review
Andrew Booy named a full strength side for the 2nd visit to Wales in a week. Esteban Gabriel Jesus Bogado returned from injury but only for a spot on the bench. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain did not pass the concussion protocol in time for the game. Cardiff had Jack Hunt and Dusan Tadic out injured.

The two teams lined up as follows:

Mesut joins the Robins

Andrew Booy has made his third signing of 2019 with the capture of 20 year old Turkish full back Mesut Erol for 1.9 million pounds from Turkish side Fenerbahce. Even though Erol's best position is right back he will provide cover at left back for Jonathan Silva after the departure of Alex Sandro. He will hopefully learn the left back position as he will unlikely ever break into the side on the right because of the dominance of Martin Kaspar and Mostafa Abdel Fatah.

Lucassen extends contract

Bristol City coach Marcel Lucassen (who has ) has extended his contract with the Robins.

The two teams lined up as follows:

Bristol City vs Cardiff - 22nd January 2018
0-0 (aggregate 0-0) won 4-2 on penalties

Manager's review
Andrew Booy had faith in his reserve side. Only first team full backs Martin Kaspar and Jonathan Silva started because Mostafa Abdel Fatah was still at the ACON and new signing Mesut Erol was cup-tied. Cardiff had Dusan Tadic and Matthew Connolly out injured.

The two teams lined up as follows:

Sunderland vs Bristol City - 29th January 2019
2-1
Kaspar 7.5 rating
Buitrago 32 mins
Denswil 81 mins

Manager's review
Andrew Booy was able to name a full strength side for this potentially difficult trip up North. 18 year old central midfielder Joaquin Guillamon has progressed so much in recent months he is now first choice alongside Marko Blazic. Lucas Evangelista drops to the bench.

The Ox leaves Bristol City

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain left Ashton Gate at the very end of this transfer window after Manchester United made a last minute 33.5 million pound bid for the England right winger. Andrew Booy decided to let the 25 year old go because Maximilian Meyer can cover Bogado at right wing and next season Ricardo Gomez will return from being on loan (also at Man Utd) and into the first team squad.
