The Squad 2018/2019........

GK

Gerry Taylor
Current Ability

Potential Ability

One of the best GKs in the game and only 20 years old. Has probably reached his full potential now. Took over from ter Stegen as City number 1 midway through last season. Can go on to be Bristol City's GK for years to come!

Marc-Andre ter Stegen
Current Ability

Potential Ability

Same ability as Taylor but because he is 26 years old Andrew Booy prefers to play the Englishman. May be sent out on loan this season if a team makes an offer.

Fernandes
Current Ability

Potential Ability

Young backup GK who is primarily the U21/U18 keeper. Does not have the potential to ever be City's number 1.

DL

Alex Sandro
Current Ability

Potential Ability

Solid attacking left back who is on his 4th season as City's number 3. The weakest member of the City starting 11 and at the age of 27 Andrew Booy is constantly looking for a replacement.

Juan Antonio
Current Ability

Potential Ability

17 year old who has the potential to be City left back one day. Will play in U21/U18 squad again this season.

DR

Martin Kaspar
Current Ability

Potential Ability

Performed outstanding last season in his first full year as the City starting right back. Starts season as number 2 but has Abdel Fatah providing strong competition.

Mostafa Abdel Fatah
Current Ability

Potential Ability

Has higher potential than Kaspar but not quite the same current ability yet. The Egyptian can progress and could end up displacing the Czech in the starting 11.

DC

Stefano Denswil
Current Ability

Potential Ability

Took over from Alvarez Balanta as best defender at the club last season. Formed a formidable partnership with the Colombian for four seasons in a row now.

Eder Alvarez Balanta
Current Ability

Potential Ability

One of the best defenders in the game. Has reached full potential now but will start his 5th season in a row as a Bristol City starter. Trying to learn left back position.

Jonathan Tah
Current Ability

Potential Ability

Strong backup to Alvarez Balanta and Denswil. Now reached full potential. Will unlikely ever be in strongest 11 but still a youthful 2nd string player.

Fanch Le Bras
Current Ability

Potential Ability

Made immense progress last year and if that continues it won't be long until the 18 year old breaks into the City starting 11. Will almost certainly become the best defender in the World.

Eugenio Hernandez
Current Ability

Potential Ability

Has potential but is struggling to reach it. Will probably be sent out on loan if a reasonable bid is made.

Siyabonga Zitho
Current Ability

Potential Ability

17 year old South African who will join the club in January for 300,000 pounds. Unlikely to ever feature in first team and will develop with U21s.

Ricardo Viotti
Current Ability

Potential Ability

Has lots of potential but is already 19 and his ability is poor. Andrew Booy took a shot on him signing him this summer. Will either spend time with U21 squad or go out on loan.

ML

Julian Draxler
Current Ability

Potential Ability

Player of the Year last season. Will find it hard to eclipse his record breaking assists from that campaign.

Alvaro
Current Ability

Potential Ability

Backup to Draxler. If he can develop has the potential to replace the German in the starting 11.

MR

Esteban Gabriel Jesus Bogado
Current Ability

Potential Ability

Progressed well last season. Still room to grow and at only 20 years of age one of the youngest players in the starting 11.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
Current Ability

Potential Ability

Backup midfielder who is trying to learn to play midfield central as well. May be asked to play there on occasion this season.

Ricardo Gomez
Current Ability

Potential Ability

Can also play left wing. Will probably go out on loan again this season. Does not have as much potential as Bogado/Alvaro so unlikely to ever get in City first team.

Austin Ansell
Current Ability

Potential Ability

Potential not as high as players who are already in the team. Will probably go out on loan again this season.

CM

Marko Blazic
Current Ability

Potential Ability

Best midfielder in team and only 2nd best player to Mario Buitrago. Will almost certainly be best player in the World by end of the season. Plays as a deep-lying playmaker.

Lucas Evangelista
Current Ability

Potential Ability

Had a fantastic season last year. With Blazic alongside him has license to go forward more this campaign.

Emre Can
Current Ability

Potential Ability

Backup player who still has room to progress his ability. Will fill-in at central midfield or left back when needed again this campaign.

Joaquin Guillamon
Current Ability

Potential Ability

Developed superbly last season in and around the first team. Will hopefully end up being a starter but at only 18 years of age has plenty of time. Will get even more game time this season with the sale of Giuliano.

Youri Tielemans
Current Ability

Potential Ability

Still only 21 but progress has been slow. Will start the season in the first team squad so hopefully that will help his development. Contract is expiring at end of season so needs to prove himself.

Soren Nielsen
Current Ability

Potential Ability

Lots of potential and still only 16. Will develop with U21s/U18s again this year after good progress last year.

FC

Mario Buitrago
Current Ability

Potential Ability

Best City player and captain. Has already reached full potential. With other players developing around him can have even better season this year.

Maximilian Meyer
Current Ability

Potential Ability

After Werner's severe injury in the Champions League final caused him to miss the summer/pre-season, will begin campaign as starter. Still learning striker role so can still improve.

Kevin Volland
Current Ability

Potential Ability

Backup striker. May find himself being sold in near future as he is 25 years old and unlikely to play as starter again.

Timo Werner
Current Ability

Potential Ability

After injury last season needs to redevelop to win back his starting position in the side. Only 22 so has time on his side.

Vivinho
Current Ability

Potential Ability

Will start season out on loan to Paris St Germain. Has potential but is 22 so needs to progress quicker.

Gabriele Allegri
Current Ability

Potential Ability

Summer signing who only just turned 17. Can become best striker in the World but first season likely to develop with U21 squad only.

Tom Challinor
Current Ability

Potential Ability

Has potential but will likely go out on loan this season.

Alex Mint
Current Ability

Potential Ability

Academy graduate who will spend 2nd season developing with U21/U18 squad again this season.
