Lukaku wins November gong

Everton's wonderkid Romelu Lukaku, on loan from Chelsea, has wowed the home fans at Goodison Park this month with his impressive performances and has duly won the Barclays Premier League Player of the Month award for November.

The 20 year old striker has been in scintillating form, scoring an impressive four goals in four appearances in the month just passed, taking his tally for the season to 11.

The Belgian beat Manchester City's Yaya Toure and Manchester United's Juan Mata to the gong, who finished second and third respectively in the voting.
Lukaku is phenomenal
Those injuries.... My goodness. I hope Mirallas can recover. Still, admirable results against the big guns, and Lukaku is insane! Would be a feat if you can keep him.

Keep up the good work, loving the story! =)

On The Whole

A superb month for the club. I knew we had to do well in December as the pressure from fans and especially the media was mounting regarding my job as Everton manager - but what a way to respond! A silly defeat at Aston Villa, and may I add that Romelu Lukaku was out for the final three matches of December with a wrist fracture (yes, another injury), so it was brilliant to pick up four wins out of five. Of course, the Liverpool victory especially, this really eased pressure on me and we then kicked on and had a magnificent month. I am a very proud manager at the moment and we can start looking up at 4th quite soon!

Premier League Table

A sensational December has put us right in the mix for UEFA Champions League qualification, may we dream of a space inside that top four? Of course we can!

Player of The Month

Sylvain Distin

An unbelievable month for the 35 year old central defender, who struggled for form in the opening months, but hit the ground running in December and never stopped. Rock solid at the back but even better going forward at set-plays, all-in-all a magnificent month.

Distin's December Highlight:The big Frenchman scored the winner against Newcastle United with a good goal, as he knicked the ball from a dordling Moussa Sissoko before slotting home with a striker esc finish. That made it 2-1 and secured three points for the Toffees.

Injury List

  • Kevin Mirallas is recovering miraculously and could be back in February.
  • Antolin Alcaraz is out for up to up to four months with a ruptured ACL.
  • Leon Osman is 5 days from full fitness after spraining an ankle in December.
This is a brilliant story mate! Doing very well in the league too, keep up the good work :D I will be following

Everton pair scoop awards

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has won the Barclays Premier League Manager of the Month award for December, having won four out of five matches, including a 2-1 victory over rival neighbours Liverpool.

Martinez took the Merseyside post after leaving Wigan in the summer, having won the FA Cup but being unable to keep them in the Premier League.

The 40 year old Spaniard endured a difficult start at the club and his team have had key men injured frequently, but pushed forward massively in December, easing pressure on Martinez from fans.

Also winning an award this month was on loan Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku, who has won the 2013 European Golden Boy award.

The award is presented to the best young player in world football and is voted for by Sports Journalists across the globe.

Players like Sergio Aguero, Lionel Messi, Wayne Rooney and Mario Gotze in the past.

Lukaku has scored 11 goals in 15 games for Everton this year and parent club Chelsea will surely be licking their lips at the prospect of having him return for the 2014/15 season.

Mourinho: Lukaku likes to talk - but he won't say why he's at Everton and not Chelsea

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has accused Romelu Lukaku of being overly talkative with the press and said the Belgian striker needed to explain why he was on loan at Everton rather than fighting for a place at Stamford Bridge.

Lukaku has scored eleven goals in fifteen Premier League games since signing for Everton on transfer deadline day, his muscular performances in attack drawing comparisons with Didier Drogba and leading many to question Mourinho’s wisdom in letting him go.

With Cameroon striker Samuel Eto’o out for at least a fortnight with a groin injury, Mourinho was asked again about Lukaku on Friday, and in particular about an interview the 20-year-old gave to the BBC in which he claimed he had had no contact with Chelsea for “a couple of months”.

“Romelu likes to speak,” Mourinho said.

“He’s a young boy who likes to speak. But the only thing he didn’t say is why he went to Everton on loan. That’s the only thing he never says. And my last contact with him was to tell him exactly that. ‘Why do you never say why you are not here?’ ”

Asked to what he was referring, Mourinho said he would not comment for “ethical reasons” but alluded to an interview Lukaku gave after one of his goals.
Great story bud.
Hopefully you'll qualify for the UCL with little stress.
Interested to see what you will be doing in Jan after the terrible luck you have had with injuries.

Everton: January Transfer Roundup

We are a month into the new year of 2014, and this means that the January transfer window has closed. Let's take a look at the business done by Everton and their manager Roberto Martinez, who was believed to have had a shoestring budget of less than £1M to work with throughout the window.

PLAYERS IN

Sulley Muntari - AC Milan - End of Season Loan

AC Milan midfielder Sulley Muntari signed for Everton on a loan deal until the end of the season. Muntari was loaned from Inter Milan to AC back in 2012 before completing a permanent transfer the same year. During his time at Internazionale, he helped the team win the Champions League in 2009–10 and the Serie A title in 2008–09 and 2009–10. He was also part of Harry Redknapp's famous Portsmouth team that won the FA Cup in 2007–08.

PLAYERS OUT

Arouna Kone - Bordeaux - End of Season Loan

Exiled Everton striker Arouna Kone joined French Ligue 1 side Bordeaux on an end of season loan deal, with the view to a permanent transfer. Kone is on a life ban from all things Everton and his new club will be paying 100% of the Ivorian's Everton contract.

Lacina Traore - AS Monaco - Loan Terminated

Roberto Martinez decided to remove Lacina Traore from the wage bill, by sending him back to parent club AS Monaco. Traore made 18 appearances for the Toffees, and didn't score a goal despite starting 14 times.
really enjoying this story, hopefully you can finish in the top four

On The Whole

A month of ups and downs, that's for sure. Supreme results against Arsenal and Manchester City, taking a point off Chelsea wasn't too bad either. Disappointing to lose the games we really should be winning but a Man United dip in form has allowed us to push up into fourth spot, though they do hold a game in hand over us.

Premier League Table

We're 4th and 1pt ahead of United who have a game in hand. Sorry!

Player of The Month

Sylvain Distin

Sylvain wins it for the second time in two months. He was incredible against the big clubs and single-handedly kept out Aguero and Negredo (with a little help from Jagielka). To win Man of the Match three times in a row is something else. The 35 year old certainly doesn't play like he's coming to the end of his career.

Distin's December Highlight:Distin cleared the ball of Everton's goal-line in the 94th minute at Manchester City, heroically preventing them from grabbing a late, late equaliser.

Injury List

  • Kevin Mirallas has made an incredible recovery and is OK to fully train.
  • Antolin Alcaraz is out for up to up to two more weeks with a ruptured ACL.
  • Joel is out for 3 more weeks with a broken jaw.
  • Steven Pienaar is out for 5 weeks with a broken arm.
Great update and some amazing results!
