Kiely Revealed As Truro Loan Shark

John Kiely has been revealed as the loan shark who was involved in the Truro match fixing scandal, after Matthew Etherington was forced to resort to other methods in order to clear his debt. Kiely has been convicted previously for one count of acquiring criminal property, two counts of concealing, disguising, converting or transferring criminal property, two counts of unlawfully failing to give notice of a change in circumstances and two counts of blackmail.

Kiely was released in late 2014, after spending five years in prison after he built up a fortune of over £3 million by charging clients interest rates of up to 2,437 percent. Kiely originally did not get the debts repaid to him as he was operating without a license, something he has continued to do after his release.

When Matthew Etherington found himself unable to pay back his debts to Kiely, he resorted to match fixing to attempt to clear his debt. Kiely is reported to have bet up to £500,000 on the match between Truro and Portsmouth.

Deputy Chief Constable Bill Skelly when speaking with the media earlier today described Kiely as a “sinister and menacing figure, who preys on vulnerable people”. It is expected that Kiely will be trialled alongside Dan Green, Ladjie Soukouna and Matthew Etherington early next year.
Its all starting to get quite nasty Truro. Cant wait to see what happens with etherignton

Truro City has signed Wilson Palacios on a free transfer, signing a one year deal. The 33 year old Honduras international, has won 120 caps for his country during his illustrious career was recently released by Mansfield. Palacios played in the Premier League for 10 seasons, spending time at Birmingham, Wigan, Tottenham, Stoke & QPR during his time in the top division.

“It is a terrific acquisition for the club to sign a player with so much experience at the highest level of the sport.” said Truro manager Chris Griffin. “His skill will allow him to be a driving force in the middle of the park, I am absolutely delighted to have him at Truro” he added.

Truro fans are elated with the club signing such a highly regarded player, with internet forums such as TigerTalk full of threads about the signing. Some fans have even gone as far as planning to take replicas of the Wilson volleyball from the movie Cast Away to upcoming fixtures with cries of Wilson also planned.

Chris Griffin has begun a substantial overhaul of his side, starting with the release of club captain Arran Pugh, who has a year left on his existing contract. Pugh had played 226 games for Truro across eight seasons, including 37 last season in the clubs first year in the Sky Bet League 2.

“It has been an honour to play for Truro for so many years, I wouldn’t change a single moment.” said Pugh. “But the time has come where it is in the best interests of the club and myself to part ways, I am now looking forward to the next chapter in my football career.” he added.

Griffin’s ruthlessness stems from a desire for the club to continue to climb the divisions as it has over the previous four years. Griffin has been in charge of Truro for four years and has taken the club up two divisions, with the club turning professional in the process.

It was also announced that Pugh’s replacement as captain of Truro would be Chez Isaac, with recent signing Wilson Palacios named as vice-captain.
Hats off to the captain! Long may the new captain reign! Looks to be a good couple of on pitch leaders there!
