September/End of season update

September is the month where we wrapped it all up, despite clinching the championship up with 3 games to go, we still had to keep our heads focused and not lose any games w should not be losing because of complacency.
we finished the season off with a comfortable win over 3rd place Jiangsu

this is how the ladder looked at seasons end, Peter Crouch won the Golden boot and was rarely challenged for it during the campaign

Managers player of the season

once again Elkeson was a vital cog in the way we played the game, with his direct running and ability to finish really helped our cause. we will speaking with his agent to discuss exteding Elkesons contract with aims of lifting the Asian Champions League next season
Crouchy looking a great buy! Realistic too imo! Enjoying the story.

thanks lad, I think his $925k transfer fee is definitely paying off lol. ill be hoping for more goals from him and Elkeson next season

Reclaiming the All-Stars Trophy

the annual meeting between the Chinese Super League winners and the Super League All-Stars, this season it involved Guangzhou Evergrande. we got off to a flying start thanks to a great header by our leading marksmen Peter Crouch, Elkeson wrapped up the game with a close range effort

with this victory it also meant we claimed the domestic treble, but our main goal still eludes us and that is the Asian Champions League

Guangzhou captain Zheng Zhi holds the trophy aloft in front of our passionate home supporters, will this club continue to dominate China for years to come?

Elkeson on the brink

our star player Elkeson has today outlined his ambition to move to a bigger club, i personally tried my hardest to keep a player who has almost single handedly won us the last two league titles.
with many suitors after the young Brazilian we should have no problem in raking in a nice fee for him

as you can see here by our all time dream team Elkeson has scored goals for fun since joining the club
Nice story, you seem to have assembled a good team. :)

thanks Alex, im going to have to replace Elkeson though which will not be easy
Gone

Elkeson has finally bought his 4 year spell at Guangzhou Evergrande to an end signing a 3 year deal with Brazilian club Corinthians for a fee of 3.4m, we are very saddened by his departure by respect the fact Elkeson wanted to play at a higher level

Everything has Forlan into place

with the departure of Elkeson we were quick to move for free agent Diego Forlan, we firmly believe that despite his age can still perform at a very high level for a few season at least

AFC Asian Champions League group stage

for the second year running weve been given the hardest possible group alongside Japanese champions Nagoya Grampus and current Asian Champions League League holders Jeonbuk Motors, Muangthong United from Thailand make up the group and shouldnt really prove much resistance
You cannot get any luck... This season will be very interesting!
I've been enjoying what I've read so far, even if I've been a silent follower up until now :)

We Were Robbed

all i have to say about the Chinese FA Super Cup against Tianjin is we were robbed, a stupid own goal by Linpeng late on was enough for Tianjin to win despite being camped in there half for the majority of the match
'parking the bus' X-(

AFC Champions League Matchday 1

matchday 1 saw us take on current J-League and Asian Champions League holders Jeonbuk Motors, i set my team out with 3 at the back and were constantly caught out at the back because of jeonbuks wingbacks, after 30 minutes i made a change and we changed to a 4-5-1 formation to nullify that threat, we continued to play on the counter which saw us take the lead through a cheeky lob by Zheng Xinze, Jeonbuk continued to flood players forward in search for an equaliser and it was that man again Zheng Xinze who put them to the sword with a second goal. we held out for the rest of the match and claimed our first win on Japanese Soil in 3 attempts

that win put us in second place behind Nagoya Grampus on goal difference, though being early in the group stage this win has put us in contention already
great win mate!
