its gonna be tight, but I reckon you can do it

October
the semi final of the Asian Champions League pitted us against Jeonbuk Motors which proved to be a very even tie with the sides being locked at 1-1 in the first leg in China
the second leg in Japan was an entertaining match to say the least with 4 goals being scored and the game ending 2-2, Gubagzhou Evergrande going through on the away goals rule

thats it!! we've reached the final of the Asian Champions League for the first time where we will play our Chinese rivals Shandong Luneng
Is that Park Ji-Sung player from Jeonbuk the actual Park from ManU and PSV? Btw, nice win and good luck in the final :)
@ASR-PSV yeah mate is the "the" Park Ji Sung lol

November

WE DID IT!! THE TITLE IS OURS!! the season drew to a close today with Guangzhou Evergrande lifting the title for a 5th straight year thanks to a very comfortable win against Tianjin, thought Shandong won there match it wastn enough

heres the results which determined where the title was heading

we clinched the title by 1 point, easily the most difficult season at Guangzhou thus far

100 games in management

after two and a half seasons ive reached 100 games in charge of Guangzhou Evergrande and this milestone will be marked with an appearance in the Asian Champions League final
November - the title eludes us

weve suffered absolute heartbreak today in the Asian Champions League final going to down to our rivals Shandong Luneng, despite the final being played at our ground we couldnt give the fans the trophy we have been itching for

November - The Cup is ours

what more can i say?..... absolutely gutted with this result, despite dominating the match we could not find the breakthrough. Then with minutes remaining and Guangzhou pushing players forward Fuli executed the perfect counter attack and went ahead and eventually won the match 1-0

we knew there was plenty of work to do in the second leg , but who could have thought we would have gone up 2-0 inside four minutes and we never looksd back winning the match 5-3, the highlight would have to be Valentin Eysseric getting a hattrick

Valentin Eysseric went on to win the Golden boot with 11 goals
Heartbreaking result in the Champions League... great season though!

Swanston Quits Guangzhou Evergrande

BREAKING NEWS!!! Shane Swanston has announced his resignation as boss of Guangzhou Evergrande. the whole of Asia seems to be shocked by this news as Swanston hadnt shown any signs of wanting to leave.

Shane Swanston has just released a statement..
to Guangzhou fans, board and most importantly my players im here to announce my resignation effective immediately as i feel ive achieved all I can here after three great years at the club. i feel ive left the club in a very strong position financially. Guangzhou will continue to dominate without me here and i wish the club the very best in the future.

i just wanna end this statement with a big thankyou to everyone involved with the club, Ill be back at some point in the future but for now good luck and goodbye.

pictured - Shane Swanston's son taking a photo from the family's holiday house looking pleased after his fathers resignation

Shane Swanston won 3 league titles and 3 cups in his time in charge of Guangzhou Evergrande
My plans for the future

As I sit poolside sipping on a XXXX Gold i realise that ive got life pretty damn easy right now, no daily training, no emails, no owners barking down my ear. but i do miss China, well not China in particular but my old players at Guangzhou and the good relations i had with all players and staff.
do I miss the day to day hustle and bustle of management? of course I do, who wouldn't? do i want to get back into management? bloody oath I do, my family are driving me nuts!!.. its December 2015 and ive been out of work for 2 months now i need to find work. time to check my emails. so I get up from my pool chair and stumble to my office.
as i sign into my emails i notice there are 4 unread messages from my agent stating there are currently four clubs interested in my services. Central Coast Mariners, Melbourne Victory, Black Aces of South Africa and Cerezo of Japan.

i immediately message my agent and tell him to inform all four clubs im not interested.

time for another beer i think to myself as i walk back down to my pool
why not go to Australia? this is good writing mate
Central Coast Mariners would be nice, and in a decent league. I'd vote for that!
@fmemdegs and ASR-PSV- id love to manage in Australia but after looking at the squads they were really struggling for numbers, im willing to wait for better offers
March 5th - big news

im sitting in bed as my wife sleeps just pondering life and where it will take me next when i see my phone light up 'RING RING RING', as i turn my head to look at the clock it says 4.36am i think to myself 'who the fuck calls at this time' but as i look down i notice its my agent Bence
Hello Bence
sorry for the early call Shane but ive received an email and sent it straight to you, i think you should take a look, youve recieved an offer from a club.
ok ill have a look, and call you back in the morning

as i check my emails i notice an email, title saying RE: Job Interview. i opened it and noticed it was from Scottish strugglers Kilmarnock

i immediately call Bence back

"Bence why the fuck did you wake me up at 4;30 am to tell me about a job from shitty Kilmarnock, i wont go anyone near that shithole of a country ive already lived in China for 3 years". and hung up the phone
Looking forward to seeing what club you end up with!
