Gareth Bale returns to training

Gareth Bale returns to training after recovering from a damaged foot

After several weeks of suffering from injury, Gareth Bale has fully recovered and could be ready for Real Madrid's UEFA Champions League clash with Manchester City. Should Ancelotti decide to start him, Bale has spent five extra hours individually training in order to become fully fit.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Ancelotti said: "Bale has been working extremely hard and I can see that he's hungry to get out on the pitch and show his worth. Winning on his Champions League debut for Real Madrid would be very special, especially because Manchester City is who we're playing against. Bale is like a caged lion now. This will motivate him to play at his best. I'll see how he trains in the next few days, and if he is comfortable, then he'll start against City. I am fully aware that starting Bale and playing him the full match is very risky. That is because you need high pressure from your players against teams like Manchester City. Allowing them to keep the ball for a long time is dangerous. If you do not constantly try to win the ball, they will score. Agüero undoubtedly poses a major threat to our defense, but we know how to deal with him."

It was a result that no one expected. Everyone predicted a draw. Manchester City did not try to fight back. They wanted to keep the ball, and Madrid's defense was too solid for them. Ramos and Pepe played a crucial role in keeping Agüero from scoring. Pellegrini himself was shocked, saying "I expected my players to take the match more seriously. However, they cannot be blamed. Real Madrid's defense was like an immovable wall."

Bale: It was the perfect debut

One of the players who really impressed in this match was Gareth Bale. Using his superb speed, Bale gave Clichy a headache at the back. Bale expressed his happiness at the post-match press conference, saying "I want to thank Ancelotti for letting me play this match. Carlo told me how my performance impressed him and how I should be proud of myself. When I was playing for Tottenham, Manchester City have always been the toughest to beat. I finally got one over them. I am very happy."

Carvajal injured: Out for up to 3 weeks
Ancelotti reveleals that Carvajal is suffering from a hip injury

Dani Carvajal picked up a hip injury after being harshly tackled by Manchester City's Pablo Zabaleta. Real Madrid's physios confirmed that this injury may last for up to 3 weeks. "It was an isolated incident, I felt a pull in my leg," he told the club's official website. The doctor told me it would be best to go to the changing room. I am not too worried about it. The doctor told me I will be missing this month's matches."
