"Grande Roma"
Following a great start Delvecchio and his Roma have continued to impress and are currently the only unbeaten team (Juventus 1 defeat) in Serie A. The team have been really inconsistent and have been lining up impressive wins with some very disappointing draws. As seen by the results the goalscoring is still the club’s main problem, a distinguished goalscorer is yet to appear. Voices around the club have been raised in order to sign a top-quality striker although Delvecchio says he believes in the current squad.
Player of the months
One of Roma’s most impressing players so far has been the Bosnian playmaker Miralem Pjanic. The 23-year-old attacking midfielder has been an absolute key in Roma’s attacking play and has contributed with 3 goals and 5 assists so far.

Youngsters set to leave Rome
Morgan De Sanctis have been Delvecchio’s first choice between the posts this season leaving second and third choice Lukasz Skorupski and Tomas Svedkauskas out of action. In order for the two young goalkeepers to develop they've been sent out on loan, Skorupski to Serie B club Modena and Svedkauskas to the Lega Pro Seconda Divisione (Italian 4th division) club Gavorrano. Both of them are expected to become first choice in their respective clubs and develop enough to be able to compete about being number one next season.
Roma have loaned another goalkeeper, Jon Kempin, from Sporting Kansas City in order to cover up for Morgan De Sanctis in case of injury. The 20-year-old American is loaned with the option to buy for a fee of €1.5m.
17-year-old Tony Sanabria was supposed to be part of the first team this season, but after half a season and only appearing 4 times as a substitute and scoring no goals the Paraguayan striker have completed a loan to Serie B side Brescia. Hopes are high for the former Barcelona-man and Brescia is said to be very happy to have captured him, even if its just for half a season. Sanabria have made 7 appearances for the Paraguayan U20's team.

Castán returns to Brazilian football
Since Delvecchio was appointed manager of Roma Leandro Castán have struggled with finding playtime. After half a season and only 7 appearances he’d had enough and filed a transfer request. Teams such as Juventus and Milan were very interested in the Brazilian's signature and bids in the region of €5m were launched from both clubs. But as Roma didn't want to reinforce their league competitors they instead accepted a €3.2m bid from São Paulo and thus sending the 27-year old defender back to his home country. Castán joined Roma from Corinthians in 2012 for a fee of €4.7m and made a total of 37 appearances for Il Giallorossi.
