November- Inconsistency Prevails

Adam Taggart scored an unlikely goal this month
We yet again won 1, drew 1 and lost 1 in another topsy turvy month. This time unfortunately the league was a lot better and we paid for our inconsistency by dropping to 6th. Let’s have a look at the month in more detail.
We continued our fine form with a 3-1 win over the Perth Glory, tarnished by 1 unfortunate incident. The first half was very idle, save for a 3 week injury to Emile Heskey. His substitute Joey Gibbs scored after half time, giving us the advantage and Andrew Hoole doubled it just 6 minutes later. However, Taylor Regan’s attempted clearance ended up tripping Chris Harold in the box on 54 minutes, and Harold didn’t fail to disappoint from the spot. With the score at 2-1 and the game into its later stages, Hoole took a corner late and Nick Cowburn and Perth striker Marin Kovacic tussled for the header inside the box. Unluckily for Kovacic, he headed it the wrong way- straight into his net.
Positives Another great attacking game
Negatives Unnecessary penalty
Looking to continue our good form, we travelled to Adelaide to play our rivals, the Reds, who had been our bogey team throughout the save. But instead of a good win to keep us on our travels, we succumbed to a game plan that had been our trademark last season- attack early then sit back. Peter Drager received the ball in the box and although he didn’t have much room, he turned and shot wildly into the top left corner, putting us behind after just 8 minutes. Losing Heskey to injuries and Rascic to international duty meant that we didn’t have a big presence up forward and struggled to get back into the game.
Positives It was a battling effort at least, against the Reds who mastered us tactically
Negatives No Heskey, no Jets it seems and Taggart just didn’t cut it up front.
Our next game against the Brisbane Roar was a good chance to get a win back, but we sadly failed to assert ourselves on the match. In the 13th minute, a perfect Andrew Hoole cross found Adam Taggart who scored his first goal for the year, but the Roar equalised 14 minutes later and dominated the match from there, meaning we had no chance to get the win. It meant we fell to 6th and continued or inconsistency.
Our next match was against- hang on. Wait a sec. It seems I have an urgent message…..
