With the new Barclays Premier League season kicking off today, there will be a lot to talk about; from player performances to controversial decisions. I must say, the first 2 goals of the new season were both quality. Also, does anyone know what happened to Lingard?

On a more serious note though, it's ridiculous, what with all the hype he was getting. The media actually needs to see how a manager does in a few competitive games first. Not one, a few. Van Gaal isn't a crap manager for losing this game. He needs a little more time. No doubt that everyone will be prepared to give him that time, contrary to what they did with Moyes. After one loss everyone pissed themselves.

On a side note, Ashley Williams was absolutely outstanding today. Best player on the pitch.

Chelsea's 3-1 win against new-boys Burnley put them on top of the standings to close the opening round of the Barclays Premier League 2014/2015. There were plenty of talking points and here are some of the main ones:

Louis van Gaal's much-anticipated debut ended in disappointment as Manchester United suffered a 2-1 home defeat to Swansea City. What lost them the game?

There were many controversial decisions regarding fouls/potential fouls in and around the penalty box. What was the biggest controversy and why?

Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City perhaps put on the three most impressive performances and book-makers have made them the three favourites for the title. Who's performance impressed you the most? Who looks the best bet for the title?
