Spurs left Wembly empty hand after they came off the worse in a stunning Capital One Cup final, eventually it finished 4-4 after extra time. Yes, 4-4. Manchester City went on to win 12-11 on penalties.
Spurs got off to a flyer when Manchester City defender Matija Nastasic scored and own goal, it got even more embarrassing for city, brace in two minutes from Argentine winger Erik Lamela saw spurs three up after ten minutes. Ivorian Yaya Toure quickly pulled a goal and two second half goals from city saw the game go to penalties. In what was most defiantly an action packed game, goals were separated by red cards for both teams. Spurs’ Ben Davies saw red and Nastasic’s day from hell continued as he picked up a second yellow.

Spurs boss Roberto Di Matteo had this to say ”well, when it’s not your day, it’s not your day. We were sloppy to concede three goals, but it’s a cup final and anything can happen. I cannot fault the boys, they gave everything and didn’t win the lottery that is penalties .”
