NOVEMBER UPDATE

Reds smash sorry swans

Liverpool recorded their biggest win of the season and in some style. A troubled Swansea came to town, who are enduring their worst start to a season and currently sitting in 16th position. Garry Monk defiantly was up against it here and Anfield looked like the last place he wanted to be.
Liverpool wasted no time on compounding the misery of the few travelling Welsh supporters, Lazar Markovic who has become a focal point in this Liverpool team scored a beautiful curled free kick into the back of the net within the first five minutes of the game. Markovic was defiantly feeling up for this game, the Serb destroyed Swansea from start to finish. Markovic went on the seal his hat trick after scoring from close range and finding himself dancing through the Swansea back line in what can only be described and a ‘Messi like’ run.

Balotelli got involved in the action. The Italian made a late run into the box to find himself heading home from a pin point cross from Raheem Sterling. Markovic wasn’t finished there and went on to score a fourth, after neat link up play with Mateo Kovacic. All the Swansea players turned to the big screen at Anfield to see the clock, only to realise they have only played thirty five minutes.

Beyond any supporters wildest expectations that they would see their team up 5-0 within thirty five minutes. This was a sublime performance from the reds against what was a poor Swansea effort. Things did not get any better in the second half, after a slip from former Liverpool player Jonjo Shelvey allowed Balotelli in on goal, he curled the ball around the out coming goalkeeper Lukas Fabianski, who looked like he was waiting for the ground to cave in on him.

Captain Ashley Williams gave away a penalty after a late tackle on Balotelli, with Gerrard resting up stepped Balotelli. To slot home the calmest penalty you have ever seen. Nathan Dyer pulled a goal back for the Swans, however the goal will never stand for anything after a dreadful performance. With the scoreline finishing a massive 7-1.

REMAINING FIXTURES

Carragher’s Verdict

Another busy month for us, I have got to be honest I was very pleased with how we started. We yet again showed our ability to kill off teams as we did with West Brom, something we can be proud of for sure. The team were absolutely gutted about the Ajax result, leaving us with only the Europa League to play for now, unless Ajax slip up. I felt we could have done much better but it wasn’t to be. Never the less we will carry on fighting to achieve the best we can on the European front. Stoke was a great game for us, we created chances at will. Mateo showed his potential and really put a stamp on the game with a great performance.
Good month and a fantastic win over Swansea! Keep that pressure on LVG, Carra!

LIVERPOOL DOMINATE AWARDS

November brings a proud month for Liverpool Football Club, earlier this evening it was confirmed that the Barclays player of the month award was handing to Liverpool’s German, Julian Draxler. Draxler is really starting to find his feet in the Liverpool team after a tough start to life in England. He caught the eye of many this month with performances that showed great effort for his team. Not so much on the scoring front but Draxler provides great creativity to the team and recorded a total of eight assists this month. Draxler just edged out this award with team mate Lazar Markovic just behind in second place. A great feat for both players to achieve.

Liverpool remained in the headlines for most of the night as the Barclays young player of the month award was handed to Spaniard Alberto Moreno who recently joined from Sevilla. Alberto has been one of Liverpool’s most consist players through the season so far. The wing back has made it clear in his performances that he wants to give everything for his team and will leave nothing on the pitch.

The runner up to the young player of the month award gives Liverpool fans something to get excited about, their young prospect of James Ward Prowse. Ward Prowse, who Liverpool brought in the summer, is currently on loan for the remainder of the season at Southampton. The young English talent is set to return to Anfield at the end of the season. So far he has been a bright talent in a strong Southampton side. A creative and energetic midfielder has provided consistent performances for the Saints.
P.S: Between updates I have updated my logo pack, that explains the change of the logo's.

FIRST JANUARY DEAL AGREED

Liverpool have shocked the Premier League with a big transfer that’s set to go through in the January transfer window. Carragher made it clear whenever questioned that he wanted to add to his squad. Liverpool have been troubled with injuries at the start of the season with Adam Lallana and Phillipe Coutinho recovering from a Ligament damage and a Broken leg respectively.
The final third was another area that Carragher wanted to after some disappointing performances from the likes of Daniel Sturrigde and new signing Rickie Lambert. Which was obviously the thinking behind this deal as we can confirm that Liverpool have agreed to sign Ivorian striker Didier Drogba on a one year deal from Chelsea. Drogba will join from a fee believed around £2,000,000.

Carragher will be hoping that Drogba can add options to their current front line. Drogba only re-joined Chelsea this summer but found game time hard to come by after the recent form of Diego Costa. Drogba has scored over a hundred goals in the Premier League and most famously converted the winning penalty in Munich to make Chelsea Champions League Winners.
This is what Reds manager Jamie Carragher had to say about the deal
:

R- Reporter
JC - Jamie Carragher

JC” Yes the deal is done, I’m delighted to welcome Didier to Anfield. It was a bit of a surprise for us at first but he adds power to our front line and hopefully goals.
R: You made it clear you want to add goals as it is only Balotelli chipping in with them, what does this mean for Lambert and Sturrigde?
JC
:Look, Danny knows he hasn’t scored enough and he is working hard to change that. I’ve always said, I’ll play the striker that scores consistently. Mario has done that for us this season and he’s been a great asset to the team since his arrival.
R:Why Drogba?
JC
:He’s still a handful, I remember many games against him and I hated it. He’s going to add a lot to this team, he’s excited for a new challenge.
R: Can you shed any light on any more signings?
JC
: We are working hard but there’s nothing I can give away yet, Watch this space though.
As a Chelsea fan, I can promise you he will be very good for you, even at his age :P
Im a chelsea fan too so Im hoping so! At such a bargain you cant go wrong

December Update

Draxler inspires consolation victory in Europe

A crunch game for Liverpool, the European nights that the fans dream of, the riches of the Champions League all hang in the balance. Ninety minutes, Liverpool vs Barcelona. Defiantly the red’s biggest game of the season.
Liverpool came into this game knowing that only a win would take them through to the knockout stages. Dependant on the score of Ajax’ final fixture.

Liverpool started brightly putting Barcelona on the back foot from the off. Early attacks come in the shape of Sterling and Markovic on each wing. Sterling proved his worth as he gave Brazilian Dani Alves the run around.
Late in the second half Julian Draxler lached onto a Jordan Henderson through ball, with a lot still to do. Neat foot work proved enough to take the ball past Gerard Pique, Anfield erupted after Draxler smashed the ball into the bottom corner. Advantage Liverpool.

Barcelona linked up nicely throughout with their usual ‘TIka-Taka’ style of play. The reds held off any pressure with Barcelona never having a clear goal scoring opportunity. Until the seventieth minute, a cross field ball from Mascherno allowed the little man Lionel Messi slip through the defence, only to be denied by a excellent save from Simon Mignolet.
The final whistle was blown and the players celebrated with joy as the fans broke out into the famous song that is ‘You’ll never walk alone’. Unfortunately for the fans, the players, all their hard work couldn’t achieve what they had hope, elsewhere in the group Ajax had ran out 6-0 winners against Vicktoria Plzen. Ajax progress on goal difference.

Carragher’s Verdict

What a tough month, I never thought I would see such hard matches week by week. We started excellently against City, however they showed why they are champions. In the end they just had too much. That game really took it out of the lads and it showed against Newcastle, a slow start but once again Balotelli delivered. Arsenal was very much similar to the City game, it’s defiantly something we need to work on, holding out leads. However it was great to see both defenders chipping in with some goals. They deserve that for their great work over the course of the season. A Mersey side derby victory would have been every reds fan’s best Christmas present I’m sure, but Everton put a tough fight. This was defiantly a tough month, our hardest so far. The lads will look to kick on now for the new year. We were defiantly unlucky to go out of the Champions league, we know from the start it was always going to be tough but to collect ten points and no progress it a hard one to take.

January Update

Reds Start New Year Unbeaten

Liverpool started the New Year with a bang, the reds were eager to put some things right after a tough end to last year. January looked a little easier on the eye but Liverpool made sure there was no complacency.

The first league game of the New Year saw Leicester come to town, the new boys to Premier League have showed their worth since promotion and are one of only two teams to beat leaders Manchester United all season.

From the start you could see Leicester were up for the fight in this game. They started quick and on the attack. English striker David Nugent put the foxes in front after twenty minutes with a well-timed run to get in front of Liverpool’s centre back Mamadou Sakho and head home.

Liverpool were not at all playing badly , Leicester were matching the reds. Both teams were creating chances to score but both defending well. Until the forty third minute went Mario Balotelli scored a contender for goal of the season, the Italian picked up the ball from twenty five yards out, turned and ran at the heart of the Leicester defence, beating players at will and the had the cheek to scoop the ball over the oncoming Sam Johnstone. Balotelli’s fifteenth for the season and in some style.

Balotelli set the standard and from there on in it was all Liverpool, the lob really took it out of Leicester an it become a one sided game. Martin Skrtel scored a powerful header from a Liverpool corner to give the reds the lead.
Only five minutes later Raheem Sterling got in on the action, Sterling who had been the provider for most of the game turned to scorer as he slotted home a well taken curly effort to see off the foxes.

Carragher’s Verdict

January was great to us, I said to the boys we need to start fresh for the new year and kick on. December really took it out of the lads, they came back refreshed and raring to go. Both of the new signings have fitted in nicely with the group. Alongside the new signing Phililpe Coutinho is back in training after his horrific injury which has seen him out for most of the season with a broken leg. It took us two legs to get past Sunderland in the FA Cup, with some of the fringe players getting their chances. After the victory that saw us taken on lower league Opposition in the shape of Leyton Orient, which we handled well and made sure of no replays this time. In the league we were sharp, very sharp. We dispatched of teams easily which is great to see. With two tough away games, Palace and West Ham. Not the easiest trips to make. However the lads played excellently and Draxler is starting to show why he is the first name on the team sheet every week.

LIVERPOOL CONFIRM 2ND JANUARY SIGNING

Liverpool have snapped up the signature of a player that is thought to be in demand by some of the top teams in Europe. Liverpool thought off interest from Manchester City and Bayern Munich to land Italian Alessandro Florenzi from AS Roma. Florenzi joins for a fee of £20,000,000. He is thought to be one of the brightest talents in Italy and has shown why with a fantastic start to the season with AS Roma. He scored four goals, and recorded seven assists.
Florenzi joins a Liverpool midfield that looks very promising with great potential. With the likes of Mateo Kovacic, Can and Henderson. James Ward Prowse and Will Hughes also to come back from their respective loans.

As a result of the deal that brings Florenzi to Anfield Liverpool also confirmed that Emre Can will be moving to Schalke for the remainder of the season on loan. Can has fallen down the pecking order at Anfield and the loan gives him a chance to prove himself to boss Jamie Carragher. Joe Allen also looks likely to leave at the end the season after he has found him unable to nail down a first team spot.

EUROPA LEAGUE DRAW

After being knocked out of the Champions League in dramatic style Liverpool find themselves in the Europa League draw, alongside teams such as Napoli, AS Monaco and PSG. The Europa League will now be something nearer the top of Jamie Carragher’s wish list. After the early exit from the Champions League it is thought to be a priority for the hierarchy at Liverpool too.

Liverpool will be play Dutch side FC Twente in the first round, where they will be reunited with the fringe player the sold to the Dutch club in the summer, Oussama Assaidi. Games are to commence on the 28th February with Liverpool travelling to Holland for the first leg. Shortly after the draw was made, the draw for second round also took place. The winners of the game between Liverpool and FC Twente will meet the winners of Lokomotiv Moscow and Dynamo Kyiv.

February Update

Reds progress into 2nd round after a thrashing

FC Twente come to town looking like they had nothing to play for, after a poor showing in the first leg from the Dutch side, the away fans were on their back on from the off. Liverpool knew it was only a matter of time before they opened the scoring.
Liverpool did not waste any time breaking through the barriers that the Dutch side put up, a vintage first half display from the boys in red put them in the front seat. Man of the match Alessandro Florenzi, put the reds infront with a great effort from the edge of the area. The Dutch goalkeeper never stood a chance. Raheem Sterling doubled the lead after a neat one two pass with Florenzi who turned provider.

Liverpool all but sealed victory a minute from the half time whistle with Raheem Sterling scoring a delicate free kick placed into the top corner. Carragher sent the boys out raring to go and looking for more, this showed when within a minute Phillipe Coutinho tapped the ball in from short range off the end of a whipped cross from Sterling.
The route continued when Florenzi got his second of the game, with a well taken effort from just inside of the penalty area. Liverpool progressed with ease and will play Dynamo Kyiv in the second knockout round.

Remaining Fixtures

Carragher’s Verdict

A slow start to the month for us, two tough games against United and Spurs. We deserved a little bit more I believe from the United game, but one point is more than none. We were also very unfortunate against Spurs, denied a clear penalty late on cost us another point. The Spurs came defiantly helped us and encouraged us to kick on from there. Back to back 3-0 victories saw us progress into the FA Cup Quarter Final. I was very disappointed by FC Twente, the played a poor game and never really looked like they wanted to get out of their own half, they parked atleast two buses! However we got what we deserved in the end, with the month ending strongly for the boys. With tough league games recently we are now playing catch up in the league.

INJURY RULES DRAXLER OUT FOR THE SEASON

Liverpool has had a massive blow to the rest of the campaign after Julian
Draxler has been ruled out for the remainder of the season because of Injury. Draxler picked up the injury against QPR, Liverpool later confirmed that he would be out for the remainder of the season with a broken foot. Draxler has been in great form recently and this will be a massive loss for the club. Draxler on the side lines alongside club captain Steven Gerrard and Serbian team mate Lazar Markovic who is due back to training shortly following an injury. Here’s what manager Jamie Carragher had to say.

"Julian is a big loss for the club, he’s been excellent, he really has. Everyone wishes him well in his recovery and we will just have to keep working hard without him. The quality in depth we have won’t leave us exposed, we still have players to do the job."

Quarter Final Draw

Liverpool have beaten off two teams of lower opposition to get this far into the FA Cup, with the draw for the Quarter Final about to take place. Wolves take their place in the draw after an upset as they knocked out Chelsea with a 1-0 Victory. There are also slots for Reading and Bournemouth as they have done excellently to get this far. Familiar faces come in the shape of Manchester City,Spurs and Arsenal and Manchester United. Burnley and Watford have also made it this far.
Liverpool have been drawn against Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur, the first big test for Liverpool in the FA Cup. Both teams chasing the coveted top four spot in the league, they will now both be fighting for a chance to book themselves into the Semi Final of the FA Cup.

It’ll be the third meeting of the two teams so far this season, after they have played both their domestic games, Liverpool failed to beat Spurs on both occasions so it will defiantly be a big ask for the team in red.

Carragher’s Verdict

A tough draw for sure, the lads will be up for it though. They will fight for that Semi Final and hopefully we will come out on top. Forget the league form against Spurs for that game, anything can happen on the day.
