Good deal signing Obi, and clever move getting Cole to stay on as a coach, is he any good?

Great job with the Prem review. I'm sure lot of work went in to that. Didn't realise you had Dorin Rotariu too. He's was usually decent in past FMs. Keep up the good work with Villa :)

Some great signings are replacements for last year's standouts, hopefully they do just as well if not better! :D

Came a bit late to party but nice story! will enjoy reading next update.
nice story i read it and love it :) keep it going m8 !
I really like the way you've built the team honestly, you're really looking out for youngsters which is something I do aswell - although I'm gona go as far to say that Obi might turn out to be a flop, he's never cutted it for me, I actually sell him as soon as I can on my Inter saves.

Good luck though, your team looks great! (p.s. I would have kept Benteke... :P)

JackKnifeRoy Cheers, glad you enjoy it, it is only going to get better

Icarus firstly your new story is going to be excellent, I hope Obi can prove you wrong and Benteke wanting to leave made the other players want hi to go so i had no choice and avoided a situation haha

Changes At Villa Park?

Last season Aston Villa were subject to a takeover bid but this season it is rumoured a Tycoon has already set the wheels in motion for a takeover bid this season. This is being emphasized by Randy Lerner going after Paul McGrath's number one target in Davide Santon.

Santon, who has been at Newcastle for five seasons was apparently identified as McGrath's main target and it is thought that he went personally to Lerner to try and convince him to sign him and it worked, albeit with the backing of the mystery tycoon interested in buying the club.

Santon is about to become Villa's most expensive signing ever

The bid of £21,500,000 is way over the odds but it is also showing what sort of man is looking to buy the club. It is understood that Santon is going to smash the club's wage barrier too, with a wage offer of around £69,000 a week over 3 years. This will smash the record fee Villa have ever paid for a player (Darren Bent £18,000,000), Joining him will be former Everton striker Samuel Eto'o. With Villa short of attackers, Eto'o will come in to one of the weakest strike-forces in the premier league.

Eto'o is also joining Villa this window for just £325,000

After the Capital One Cup thrashing against Swindon, McGrath decided he needed more firepower up front and Eto'o suits that down to the ground and for just £325,000 transfer fee and a £45,000 a week 2 year deal he could well become a important cog in the Villa squad this season.

As for the takeover it is a case of watch this space.

Wenger: Villa Are Doing It All Wrong!

Wenger speaks out against Villa

Arsene Wenger has seemed to have issues with Paul McGrath and Roy Keane since McGrath took charge at Aston Villa just ove ra year ago, so it was no surprise he had a say on the Davide Santon signing on the transfer deadline day. It is a shame though that everything he seemed to say was wrong in respect to Aston Villa.

I am growing increasingly concerned with how teams are doing there business these days. Villa have an amazing youth system so the need to spend over £20,000,000 on one player is very unjustified

(Reporter butts in)

But Arsene you have just spent £32m on just 5 players even though you have a wonderful youth set up so surely you are being hypocritical

(Arsene Wenger responds)

Ummm...... yes but we are in europe so we need to strengthen, teams like Villa do not need to do that. Aston Villa do not have the resources to buy players like that and it is a very irresponsible thing to do. I have no issues with Aston Villa, except the fact they are rubbish because they are giving no opportunities to the youngsters at the club and that is all I have to say about the matter.

It is understood though, that Wenger has not done his research on the Aston Villa squad but manager Paul McGrath just thinks that Wenger is jealous.

McGrath hits back

I have heard the comments, yes said McGrath. I just think he is jealous and has no idea what he is going on about. We have youngsters like Jordan Graham, Jack Grealish and Callum Robinson coming through and are in and around the 1st team squad but I think we have really got under his skin and I can not wait to face Arsenal to embarrass Wenger some more.

Arsenal next play Aston Villa on the 25th October at Villa Park, we can not wait for that!
