They had the beating of us from start to finish! I was gutted and so so annoyed. Hopefully we can make up for this!
Ouch, that is a bad run of results! However, a blip on form always happens, even to the best of us. I remain confident that you can make a push for the play-offs, just gotta turn this form around!

It is so frustrating though after what had been a pretty decent start to the season. I think we might be able to push towards the play-offs as long as we don't hit a bad patch!

January: A recap...

Now we have hit the New Year in-game, I feel the need for a recap of the last few updates. Things had been going well for me and the club with us over-achieving and pushing for a play-off spot for the majority of the season. A number of my players had showed that they have the potential to play at this level and possibly beyond it. Caine Winfarrah, Matthew Gledhill, Danny Meadows and Dayle Southwell all deserve a mention for their dedication so far this season and their outstanding performances in more than one game. Unfortunately for Southwell, he has hit a major dip in form and hasn’t scored for a number of games now and is being heavily criticised in the media. Despite this, I am still showing faith in him and I am very confident that he will change his fortunes with the support of his team mates. If he does this then I am confident that despite last month’s atrocious displays we can challenge for the final play-off spot.

As I just mentioned, last month was an awful month from start to finish. Nothing went our way and the players’ confidence slipped to an all time low and it was always going to be difficult to pick them back up off the floor. Unfortunately a less than successful team meeting that I arranged failed to do this and in fact made things a whole lot worse. The only thing that was going to change the atmosphere in the changing room was going to be to get some wins on the board.

If someone had offered me nine points from a possibly fifteen at the beginning of the month, with the club being in the recent slump it’s been in, I would have snapped your hand off. The standout result has to be the win against FC Halifax which was the match that I thought was going to bring us back down to Earth once again. I set the lads up in a 5-4-1 formation which I have used every game this month to stop the leak of goals and set them up to counter any Halifax attack. This worked a treat! We hardly saw the ball and only hard three shots compared to their fourteen. What mattered most was that our player of the month, Danny Meadows, popped up with a screamer of a shot that flew into the top corner. At that moment I actually found myself cheering out loud before rushing for the team instructions tab to make sure the lads tightened up and concentrated. We managed to see the game out and it was such a relief and a big three points that could go a long way to helping us challenge for the play-offs. I do think we have made our task difficult but it is still mathematically within our reach. The next month sees us come against mainly teams below us in the league and they are against teams that we should be getting three points from. If we can have a second successive month of good results then we are definitely still within a shout. If results don’t go our way and we play like we did in December, then we will not stand a chance and instead good slip further down the league.

Player of the Month – Danny Meadows

Bit late, but good luck! Will read through the whole thing later, the updates look superb.
The league is still quite tight, you're still well and truly in with a shout
Keep fighting, you've still got a decent chance at the play-offs!
As Justice says, the league is tight and if you can string together some positive results, you'll be right up there.
You ARE well and truly still in it. However sometimes waiting a season is better than just going up is it not?
I personally prefer a bit of a fight but it can be frustrating. Looks like you are starting to turn it around a bit now though...
Jonaldinho:I am glad you have joined me on this journey and thank you.

Justice:It is still tight but I doubt our chances slightly because of the quality of the clubs around us.

Pompeyblue:A decent chance is the best way of putting it, it certainly isn't anything more. We will keep fighting but maybe promotion isn't the best thing for us right now.

No1VillaFan:I'm not sure whether going up will do us some good; however, it could bring in some much needed cash.

Ziechael:The battle for the play-offs has kept me on the edge of my seat and interested in this save. I just hope it all works out for the best.

February: One of each...

What a boring and predictable month! I am slowly starting to lose patience with a number of these players and it is starting to reflect in the score lines, which have all but ended our chances of pushing for a promotion spot. Instead, we are now going to be fighting to be a top half team by the end of April. I actually have been struggling to decide what to say in this update as the performances were so poor, so thought I would give you an update on a couple of the players.

Our striker, Lewis Chambers, has been a huge let down this season with him being given more and more chances to show that he can bring something to the team. Unfortunately for him his season has been ended with a pulled hamstring. I do feel for the guy as our one physio (with poor attributes) isn’t going to be able to work any magic and resurrect his floundering season. It is his second major injury of the season so I guess he can’t actually be blamed for contributing much in terms of performances and more importantly, goals. Due to him being injury prone and his contract expiring at the end of the season I have taken the easy decision to set him for release come April. He just isn’t staying match fit for long enough that his attributes can improve in any way for him to be seen as a valuable player for us.

On the injury front, Danny Meadows who has been one of the few players who has played consistently well has also had his season ended and will be out for up to 5 months with a torn hamstring. This isn’t an injury that he is going to be able to rush back from and it is going to be a long time before we see him back in a Boston United shirt. Acting on this I have signed two new players with one of them being brought in as the direct replacement for Meadows. He has done extremely well so far and has received our player of the month award. Harvey Hodd is poor in terms of attributes but he has not let this affect his performances but instead he has one of a minority that have kept going until the end. He hasn’t taken long to settle in whatsoever and has provided some cover for the defence which has been desperately needed of late. The other signing, Nicky Walker, has already started piping up about the lack of game time. To avoid disruption to the club, I have assured him he will get some game time in the next month or so, which will hopefully keep him shutum for a little while. My thought process is that he isn’t good enough to be at Boston United so I will look to move him on in the summer, hopefully for a bit of money if possible.

Player of the Month – Harvey Hodd

Grimsby is always a tough opponent in the Vanarama for me :/

I see Dover is struggling on your save (the same as mine) xD

Enjoying the story, keep it up :)
dont sweat man! your gonna make the playoffs!
It's not looking great at the moment, but I've seen you do miraculous things on this game ;) Keep going man!
