La Liga Table

Our Player of the Month

Gareth Bale

I haven’t mentioned this guy too much but Gareth Bale has been on absolute fire this season. Scoring 25 goals in 41 games, the only game he failed to score in this month was El Clasico. The lad is a freak of nature.

Verdict

Another tough month, another month without the stain of a defeat. The La Liga title is more or less wrapped up, but I still want to remain unbeaten, record the highest number of points and goals scored in a season. We’re well on our way so far, winning big games versus Villarreal, Levante and, of course, Barcelona. As expected, we controlled Napoli at the Bernabeu and are one step closer to the Champions’ League final in Berlin. Borussia Dortmund awaits us in next month’s quarter finals.
Does Bale score many from distance?
Inquisition: Yeah, he does a score a fair bit from range. A bit like Arjen Robben, cutting in on his left.

NEW PRESIDENT ELECTED

Real Madrid hero Emilio Butragueño has been elected as the new president of Real Madrid by its fans, beating and succeeding second placed Florentino Perez.

Carlos Alberto Benitez, keen on bringing back West Ham United’s Carlos Queiroz, came third in an election largely battled between Butragueño and Perez.

Butragueño stated that he was very proud to have been given the backing from fans to take control of the club, admitting that Perez had done a fine job since 2009 and that he would pursue his targets vigorously in the new season.

“It’s an immense pleasure to stand here today as the new president of the greatest club in the world. I’d firstly like to thanks Florentino Perez for his great management of the club, as the conditions of Real Madrid in all aspects are in fantastic shape.

“I’m keen to implement my own ideas, and as promised, I shall be working night and day to fulfill my objectives promised in my mandate.”

Butragueño also revealed he was a big fan of Perez’s idea of a new stadium and that he would go ahead with the stadium expansion at least, but he refused to comment on Carlo Ancelotti’s position as manager.

“I think Perez’s ideology of a new stadium was a fantastic and revolutionary idea, one very befitting with a club of Real Madrid’s magnitude. It’s something I will look into and I will go ahead with a stadium expansion at the very least. That I can confirm.

“As for the manager, it would be unwise to make such decisions on his future right now and I’d prefer to fully focus on our challenges this season.”

Butragueño will bring in his business partner Jose Ramon Mateo as a director of the club to help instrument his work in his absence.
Great month again - would be great if you could go the season unbeaten!! Good luck!

Our Player of the Month

Cristiano Ronaldo

Battering the goals in, creating a bunch and just four goals shy of the big 300 for Real Madrid, it’s hard to look elsewhere for our Player of the Month.

Verdict

Campeones! Campeones! Ole, Ole, Ole! I was delighted with our performances this month, as I really had to use the squad’s entire depth throughout this month to keep players relatively fresh. The team didn’t miss a beat, sealing the La Liga title and moving a step closer to the final. All that separates us from the final is Madrid's old conductor - Jose Mourinho.

DOUBLE BLOW FOR MADRID

Real Madrid will be without the services of Gareth Bale and Sami Khedira for at least three weeks, with the pair likely to miss both legs versus Chelsea in the UEFA Champions’ League semi-final.

The Madrid duo both picked up injuries during Los Merengues’ 5-0 win versus Almeria in La Liga and are certain to miss the Spanish champions’ first leg at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Welshman Bale suffered a twisted ankle in the first half before being replaced by Jese Rodriguez, whereas Khedira suffered a pulled hamstring injury, ruling both players out for three weeks.

Real Madrid boss has treated the news as a big blow for his team, but he does, however, maintain the belief in his side to maintain their usual standards.

“It’s a difficult situation for us. To lose two vital players at such a crucial time in our season is never an easy pill to swallow, but we’ll have to trust in ourselves and come through it.

“We have great depth in our squad, and I think the month of April showed just how deep our squad is, so I have full confidence in the players that will come in for Bale and Khedira.”

The duo will definitely miss Real Madrid’s clash versus Chelsea and league games against Valencia and Sevilla, with the two likely to return in time for the final two games of the La Liga season.
Ouch, I think Khedira will be a bigger miss for you though he sweeps up infront of the back 4 soo much
Congrats on winning the title, now for the undefeated season ;)

Tough to lose such good players but frankly I'm 100% certain you'll be a-okay :P
Reply 100!!! Woohoo
No1VillaFan: Indeed, Illarramendi has been solid when rotating this season, so I hope he'll do the job.

J_Skinna_39: That's the plan! Thank you for your support :)

Neal: Yeah, we'll get by. Thank you and everyone else for contributing to the 100 replies mark!!! :D

JM: ‘NO RUN LASTS FOREVER’

Chelsea boss and former Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho has sent his ex-club a warning ahead of their UEFA Champions’ League semi-final clash.

Real Madrid has been in rampant form this season, with Los Blancos yet to lose this season, but Mourinho has every belief in his team that they will bring that run to a halt this month.

The Portuguese boss has stated that his side is ready for what Madrid has to bring to the table and that the current Champions’ League holders will lose sooner or later.

“If there’s something everyone learns in the football industry, that is that nothing lasts forever. No run can go on forever and that’s our mentality going into the game.

“Real Madrid aren’t the only top club; We are too. We have aspirations of winning all there is to win, just like them. My players are world class too, so we’re confident about our chances in defeating Madrid. It’s that simple.”

With Real Madrid missing both Gareth Bale and Sami Khedira for at least one of ties, third placed Chelsea also have injuries of their own.

The King’s Road outfit will definitely be without Serbian pair Nemanja Matic and Branislav Ivanovic, as well as former Barcelona full back Adriano, meanwhile Gary Cahill is due to have a late scan on a recovering fractured arm.

Cristiano Ronaldo

Turning on the style in the final month with 12 goals from nine games, scoring in total 51 goals and taking his Real Madrid tally to 309, our beloved Ronaldo takes the monthly crown once more.

Verdict

What a season! Record points in the La Liga, the Copa del Rey title in the bag and the Champions’ League for desert. Only the Espanyol game caused a little bit heartbreak, having come so close to a completely unbeaten season, but it’s a testament to just how good we’ve been in truth. We’ll be back for seconds next season.
What a season! Well done *claps in appreciation*
