The Dutch footballing world was rocked today, by the news that PSV are in the hunt for a new manager, following the departure of Phillip Cocu, with the Dutchman openly admitting that he needs a new challenge.

"PSV is a great club, but a two-team league such as Eredivisie just isn't where I see my future. This club will continue to grow without me, and I have no doubt the board will bring in the best man for the job as my successor. There has been no trophy here in almost two years, but I am not the man to bring that silverware back."

Speculation is rife in Holland about who will succeed Cocu, but some bookies have been taking bets on a relatively unknown Englishman: Tony Young. It's a mystery, why these bookmakers have opened betting on the 42-year old Englishman, who has previously had roles with Liverpool and Forest Green at Youth level, and also coached in Scotland for a short while.

Only time will tell, as the media frenzy heats up in Holland.

The Grind: PSV's Big Names Continue Their Recovery From The World Cup

As PSV's World Cup stars returned to training this morning, they were accompanied by a new face - as the board announced the appointment of 42 year-old Tony Young as the club's new manager.
The Englishman once played at a Professional level, albeit his career was short-lived, as he suffered from ongoing bouts of Knee Tendinitis, cutting his promising career short, almost before it had even begun. From there, Young moved into coaching, working with youth teams across the UK, including Rangers, Liverpool and Leeds United, before making the switch to full management.

PSV fans are said to be sceptical about their new man, although the official supporters club have released a statement giving their full backing to the man that fans across the country are hoping can bring silverware back to Phillips Stadium.

At a press conference this afternoon, the new man made every effort to win the journalists and fans over, even making an attempt at some broken dutch which, for posterity, will not be recorded here. However, below is Tony Young's welcome to the fans.

"It is an honour to have been offered a job at this fantastic club. There is a lot of history here, and that is a history which i'm determined to contribute to. We have a fantastic group of players right now, and this club is going to go from strength to strength. I promise the fans that, within 3 seasons, we will have a whole new collection of trophies to admire."

Time Out: Bakkali Has Stalled Talks On A New Contract

PSVs 18 year old Belgian starlet has rocked the club today, telling the media that "PSV is not where I see my future...I don't think i'll be here next season."

The left-winger, who scored 5 goals in 22 games last season, is undoubtedly one of PSV's best youngsters, but with his deal due to expire in June, he has been attracting interest from elsewhere in Europe.

With clubs such as Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Barcelona all vying for his signature, Bakkali had been holding PSV to ransom with extortionate contractual demands, but new manager Tony Young is having none of it, telling us: "Nobody is bigger than the club, in my view, and if we have to lose a player because his ego got too big, then so be it: there are other left wingers, both at the club, and elsewhere in Europe. I wont have one player holding the entire club to ransom because he had one good season."

PSV fans are said to be disappointed with their winger, and understand where the new boss is coming from - and are looking forward to seeing how Young will replace the Belgian.

Norwegian youngster Martin Odegaard is one player that Tony Young certainly has his eye on. The youngster has already stated that English club Liverpool would be his preferred destination, should he leave Norway - but he won't move if they can't guarantee first-team football.

The 15 year old was training with PSV last week, and, speaking exclusively to us, manager Tony Young seemed positive about his club's chances of landing the teenager:
"Martin was here last week, training with the youth and senior teams, and he seemed to enjoy himself...I'm all too aware that there are bigger clubs than us looking to snap him up, but the Dutch league, and this club, have an incredible track record when it comes to developing new talent. I think Martin was impressed with his time here, and we'll know very soon if he's going to join us."

Is this over-zealous idealism from the new PSV boss, or is Europe's hottest property heading to Eindhoven?

It would be a shame to lose Bakkali as he is so talented and will be one of the best players in the world in a few year. But that Norwegian lad seems decent!
